The beautiful white sand beach at Ganpatipule stretches for 12 kms with the Ganapati temple and the MTDC resort next to each other. On the beach, I was amazed with the clean blue sea water and the white sand. The Ganpati temple is a 'Swayambhu' (self-originated) Ganpati temple and the whole hill is considered as a Ganpati. MTDC resort [Self-contained rooms (84 blocks). Konkani House Deluxe A/C / Non-A/C (12 blocks)] is divided in two parts, one with Konkani huts (AC/non AC) / Tents and the other with Deluxe rooms / Cottages. Each part has a restaurant. Only issue with Konkani part is that it is 1.5 Kms from the main complex and so if you do not have a car, you will have to keep walking. We generally spent our morning (8am to 11am) in the sea and then sitting in an open restaurant with soft / hard drink gaze the sea, for the entire day. Our children played in beach sand. After naps enjoy the sunset again on the sea during 4:30pm to 7pm. Finished off the day with snacks/drinks/dinner till 11pm. Advantage with MTDC is that the rooms are very close to the beach. There is an Ayurvedic massage centre located in the MTDC resort as well. Best destination for anyone wanting to just chill out, relax and one who loves water and its sound.
The nearest airport is Kolhapur. The nearest railhead is Bhoke, on the Konkan Railway. However, Ratnagiri is more convenient. Mumbai-Ganapatipule (via Mahad) is 375 kms. Pune-Ganapatipule (via Satara) is 331 kms. Kolhapur-Ganaptipule is 144 kms.
Bhandarpule: Located at 3 Kms. from Ganpatipule, Bhandarpule also has a very beautiful beach. The beach at Bhandarpule is secluded and less crowded than Ganpatipule,

Jaygad Lighthouse: Near the Jaygad port. Visiting hours: 4.30pm to 6 pm.
Sangameshwar: Located near the Mumbai - Goa highway and approximately 50 Kms. from Ganpatipule. There is an ancient Shiv temple at Sangameshwar on the confluence of Shastri and Alaknanda rivers.
Velneshwar: The beautiful village of Velneshwar, situated north of the Shastri River, has its own peaceful, coconut-fringed beach,
Ratnagiri: Places to see: The Thibaw Palace, the Lokmanya Tilak Smarak and the Patit Pawan Mandir.
Marleshwar: 60 Km. from Ganapatiple, is famous for its Shiva temple and waterfall (rainy season).
Regional Food: Sol Kadhi (digestive drink), Mango Extract, Kokam Sharbat, Misal Pav, Phanaspoli, Ambapoli, Modak
Khichadi Prasad (Rice cooked with Moong dal) in generous quantity is given in the afternoon at Ganpati Mandir.
MTDC restaurant: The food is very good especially sea-food. Room service for food is limited to tea, coffee and sometimes some food may be served depending upon the availability of manpower.
Eating Joints other than MTDC: Joshi Khanval, Kelkar Lodge for Maharastrian, Konkani & Malwani food. For non-veg food “Annapurna” is also a good option especially for crispy surmai fry. For good veg food a restaurant run by Joshi is very good.
