“Super Stay at Resort”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

This is the finest home stay that I have been to, and this resort can set bench marks on how a homestay can be.
First of all Superb location in the woods , makes it an ideal place, and add to the luxurious maintenance of the resort by the owners. It Makes it an ideal location to spend a day or two. They have a lot of other recreational activities as well, like Mini TT, chess etc for kids to be busy.

There is small trekking route up into the mountains and a small waterfall nearby which adds to the flavor.

They serve homemade food, so it cant be compared to what you get in restaurants. We loved all the food they made, and it is very reasonable priced as well.

Overall a Superb Stay and we would like to visit the resort again. The owners of the Resort Mr. Nischal took good care of us and was more like a friend at the resort. The memories that we had are etched in our mind forever.

Room Tip: Dont think twice of staying in this place. If you get vacant rooms go for it and you would not be di...

Its like experiencing the TRUE nature of Serene Woods ---down on earth
and Mr Nishal Poonappa the man(who own's the show) ----down to earth.
The approach drive way to this "serene woods world" itself is just mind blowing. We loved every minutes of our stay. Thanks to Mr Dinesh(care-taker) and his team.
Food was not great ,great...but just can say great,as they were pretty flexible to accommodate if any specific likeness to tease your taste buds.
What made me and my family happy, was, to see, the genuine involvement and attention of every individual associated with this property.
Rooms designed and presented very nice-n-clean, although the low-seat cover needs a change.Bath area clean and spacious.Huge spacious room.
Be aware to keep the door, window nets closed always(specially after sunset) as ...actually you will be staying in deep woods.Although we did not find any cause of concern.
We felt safe and secure.
The tranquility and serenity along with its inhabitants is what makes you feel to be truly with nature which we felt 'Serene Woods'...has given us to a great extent. Thanks again to all the members who runs this property.

Room Tip: Duplex unit being higher up compared to the other units has a nice plan view of the rest, what we enj...

First things first :
I have been in this place in first week of march ....
we were a group of six ..my two little angels and parents...
we booked two cottages which were right on the top...(well that's what i felt)

About the Place
It's actually in the forest ... the way to this place itself would surprise you.. as it not very far from the road may be 5-7 minutes by car
The view from the cottage is unforgettable..having my morning tea amidst the dense forest is still lingering...Birds chirping, woodpecker tapping the trees..cool breeze.. i can go on...
About the cottages
they are spacious no doubt...and very airy ... large windows to allow light and air...
Clean, well decorated and well maintained .. I guess they are only one year old ...all cottages looked good from outside as well..
Hot water for bathing could be an issue... as i found out later in my tour that most of the hotels use storage water heater.. which work slowly then the instant ones that i was used to..
About the food :
We are strict vegetarians ... which we had indicated at the time of booking of itself...and there are no complaints on that front...it was not like restaurants ... but it was like home made food... c'mon I was staying in a homestay. Milk for kids was also made available...and as a room service as well. One more memorable thing about the food was ... My mother and wife ..both ..yes both ... happen to like the roti (Chapatti) made of rice flour... we in mumbai had not tasted it earlier...pretty good...they have now started making at home as well...( and yes found out from neighbors ...that do that all the time !!!)
About the Host
Last but not least...
I would like to thank him (and forgive me for sending this thank you note so late :-) ...for being concerned (when we reached late on the day of arrival),
attentive to our queries about the place and
above all for the serene world that he is sharing with us..

Just to add - I have shot a video where the only thing you can see and hear is different birds chirping early morning and no other sound...trust me no ringtone in this world can replicate this...

Sere woods – A tastefully designed and build 6 cottage home stay (nothing less than a good resort) amid nature. The cottages are spacious, clean, well decorated and have a very beautiful view from the balconies. The property also boast of in-house activity such as carom, badminton set, chess etc where u can spend a good quality family time. One can also enjoy the swing in the game zone while hearing to the bird chirping. Please note small portion of the approach road has the jungle feel to it. You can enjoy a good stroll in the morning hours seeing the various plantation other than coffee. Food is tasty and with good spread in Breakfast and dinner. Try the chef Mango sabji (tangy flavor) with Rice. The staff is attentive, smiling and helpful at any hour of the day. All in all a great place to relax and spend quality time with family amid nature at its best..

Room Tip: ask for the cottages at the top.

We stayed for 3N/4D.

Excellent location - it's slightly inside /off the main road while you look at google map. Best option is to call Dinesh the caretaker when you reach Sudarshan Circle in madikeri. The road is extremely narrow towards serene woods (but what else do you expect in forest!!)

Accommodation: has 6 cottages. Number 4,5,6 are on top and give the best views. They have cupboard (no safes though), kettle (for tea/coffee) and lovely Balcony with splendid views.

Food: Well you are in Coorg...main food is rice or rice based. if you want wheat chappatis's check in advance else you may be disappointed when you hit dinner table. Remember you would be in deep forest like environment, hence finding food at night would be difficult outside accommodation. They have the menu decided in advance. You can ask in advance to prevent any surprises, lot of veggie options available.

Breakfast available at 8.30am -9.30am and dinner is from 8.30pm to 10pm. So if you have kids who wants to eat early - there may not be much flexibility.

Services: on/time and clean.

Add-on: welcoming and friendly staff.
It was my 4th wedding anniversary. I knew Ponappa (the owner) through a common friend. When he came to know about my anniversary he brought in surprise cake to end my evening. Can't thank him much for the surprise. Thank you sir!!

Room Tip: Choose either cottage 4,5 or 6. They give you the best views

My husband and me stayed here in the first week of May. The place is beautiful. The way to Serene woods was a little scary as its in the middle of coffee plantations and the road is very narrow. But once we reached there, we were really happy. The cottages are clean and spacious. All the cottages have a verandah and the view from our cottage was really beautiful. The staff is very helpful and polite. Though its closer to town, the place is very peaceful. The food is good. There is not much variety but the 3-4 items served are pretty good.
In our entire stay at Serene woods, we had only one complaint and that was about the electricity problems. We conveyed this to Mr. Ponappa and Dinesh and we hope that they do something about this in the future.
I would definitely recommend this place to people who would like to spend a good 3 days away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, enjoy the Coorg weather and does not have too many expectations as Serene woods is a new property probably less than 2 yrs old but nevertheless its worth a visit.
