As they say, don't judge the book by its cover, similarly don't judge this place by its location or ambience.
We stayed at cub Mahindra and were very keen to try local cuisines, which is very limited in Mahindra club and poor quality. If you love to explore local flavors, not finicky about fine dining codes, love non vegetarian food, this the place for you. The pandhi curry is to die for, i have never eaten such amazing pork curry and the taste of spices is something you would have never experienced before. While i had pork curry, my husband had mutton curry with ghee rice. The quality of rice is very good. We packed for dinner also- chicken pepper fry and pork chili. Chicken pepper fry was mind blowing, a little spicy but heavenly. Pork chili was good, but pandhi curry was better. After experiencing Coorg cuisine i got my yearly quota of Coorg meat masala, kachumpuli.

This may be the only hotel in Coorg that can boast about a wide array of local Coorg cusine. They do have all most all local delecies in there menu (not sure if all are in stock). Place is dingy, worned, not well maintained with very sluggish sevice. We did not bother to eat here and carried a wide array of dished to out room, being familiar with Coorg dishes, we found most of them lackign the real taste due to one reason or the other. My rating of this place is mixed, with the type of publicity and crowd they get, they should be doing a better job for sure. I will feel sorry if the place pulls down the shutter permanently soon (wrong to say that since they have old wodden doors I think !!!)

We went in at 2:00 PM on Sunday for lunch. We found there were two tables occupied and the rest of the 5-6 tables were yet to be cleaned of plates and left-overs. We occupied one of these dirty tables. For the next 15 minutes nobody came to clean the table. Then we found the cleaning boy emerged and started cleaning another table - on calling him he cleaned out table also. However, even after 20-25 minutes of sitting there no one came to take the order. Nobody was in the counter also who we could approach. The cleaning boy was the only person to be seen in the restaurant. Then came the waiter (also manager?) with food ordered by one of the earlier occupied tables. By that time all the other tables were also occupied. After about another 20 minutes this waiter came to our table to take our order - he had no time to stand and listen as he was in a hurry. We ordered Akki Roti(3), Pandi Curry, Pork with bamboo shoot, Egg Curry, Mutton Curry and Ghee Rice and riceballs (forgot the name). However the waiter did not write down our order anywhere - he was depending solely on his memory. After another 45 minutes the waiter emerged with our order. He served a few other tables in the mean time (customers who arrived after us). We found that he has missed the Egg Curry and Ghee Rice. On pointing out - he said there was no Ghee Rice left - so we told him to give plain rice and egg curry quickly as the other food had arrived. After about another 15 minutes he came with a bowl of rice but no egg curry. He kept on travelling between the kitchen and the restaurant after that, serving other customers and every time indicated that the egg curry was coming. We finished all the other dishes and the rice had already gone cold - still the egg curry did not arrive. So we told him to cancel that order and came out very disgusted at about 4:00 PM. This 2-hours ordeal was undoubtedly the worst restaurant experience that I ever had.

The food was like this: Akki roti was cold and stiff. Pandi Curry and the other pork dish had mostly bones and fat. Mutton curry was reasonably good. The cost of the food was reasonable, our bill for these items came to about Rs. 600/-. The ambiance is also like a cheap restaurant - dirty and worn out.

I will not recommend anyone to go to this restaurant.

Beligerent service, crudly prepared food and empty hipe sums up my experience at Kodava cuisine. My pork curry was mostly inedible chunks of fat and was almost to spicy to eat, and I love spicy food. Why it receives such glowing reviews is hard to understand. I got the feeling who ever opened the place had a very good idea and if the cook made the recipe's with love and care they might very well be great BUT the rude, unispired employees working there are running the place into the ground and serving up slop. What a shame

Its opposite the post office. They have only on waiter. But, the food s very good and moderately priced. Must try the pandhi curry and bamboo shoot sabji (don't remember what its called). Its not a high class restaurant, but its the best to have a taste of the kodava cuisine.. filled with spices in a precise amount!
