“Only Legacy... nothing else! :(”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2014

Had fond memories of this place from 2010, when food was good and the service, excellent. So, when we landed in Madikeri on the 4th of May, this was the restaurant of choice for lunch. All the way from Abbey falls to this restaurant, I was singing paeans of this place to my wife and kiddo.. Little did I expect the terrible fate that awaited us...

Gobi Manchurian was good, but rest of the stuff just clouded the experience. My kiddo exclaimed that the egg fried rice has a doggy smell. I gently rebuked her for nitpicking and to prove my point, put it in my mouth only to spit it out.... It of course was smelling like a wet dog!!! Yuck

Rotis were hard.... Veg kaDai was watery version of koorma...

Exited the restaurant utterly disappointed and a rumbling stomach, bought some fruits in the town and satiated the hunger pangs...

I just hope the management wakes up and pulls their socks up..... Else it is going to be a downward spiral for this once great place....

“Good Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2014

The food is excellent, the rooms decent, the kids loved the rooms with the bunker beds. They seem a bit understaffed to handle the crowd.

“The food is good; but the staff needs to be more attentive and responsible”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2014

We had dinner once here on our visit to Madikeri. The food tasted good and the blend of masala was perfect. If you can get the seating at their balcony, its the best.. It gives you the typical coorgie chill climatic experience during dinner time.. But the waiters there were quite negligent. They would just go off even before we could finish our order..

“Improvement”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014

The Dal has improved considerably & so has the veg Kadai.
This is still probably the best place to eat in Madikeri. It's not perfect & some dishes are not what you may expect but the dal, veg, chicken & even fresh fish are v good.
B/fast is a treat; excellent idlis, dosa & vadas & the coffee can be quite good (ask for less sugar & strong).
Famous for their afternoon Tea; dosas & cutlets.
One of the few places where the dosa & idli are made in the old style & have a slight tangy flavor-fantastic.
Tip well for good service.
Sitting outside in the early evening is magical; watch the mist roll in.

“Once upon a time!!!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

This was THE hotel in Madikeri about ten years ago but has deteriorated after the demise of the owner who was meticulous in many ways. It is OK now.The once famous Dosa has seen ups and downs.for a tourist is OK once a way.
