To say that I enjoyed my stay at Honey Valley would be an understatement. The resort is a charming little settlement located atop a hill with its own, private waterfall. The manager, Jyothi, an avid traveller herself, will tell you all you need to know about the place. Treks, sightseeing, or just the best route for a peaceful morning jog, you name it...Honey Valley was the perfect weekend getaway. I loved it's rustic charm and the long jeep rides up and down the hill. The food was though, was one of the biggest surprises for me. I was expecting simple rice and curry but we were served Authentic Coorgi homestyle food, cooked with a smile. Pandi curry (pork), avocado salads etc. Very impressive. The cottages are perfect. We also had a great view to boot. It's perfect for a couples getaway or for a quiet trip with close friends. They say Christmas is the best time to visit. I'd take their word for it.

Room Tip: Just tell the manager what the purpose of your stay is. The honeymoon suites are cozier but you coul...

Its awesome place, we never been to such place before. We liked the place especially when went by walk from Kabbinakad to Honey Valley, its advisable to go by walk. We can see beautiful nature, smell aromatic pure air, soil.

Suresh (proprietor) and his wife are friendly and caring. Food is good, tasty & hygienic. Honey Valley don't have TV which is good part, as we enjoyed the nature instead of sitting in front of TV. Weather is so cool that we don't require fan over there. Good place to be close to nature and far from pollution and fast moving life.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, according to your budget you can plan.

We decided to take a little getaway for my daughter's 18th birthday and chose Coorg for its beauty. She loves nature and trees, so Honey Valley seemed the perfect location.

From the first call to Honey Valley, we knew this was a special place. They didn't even ask us for more confirmation that our word we were coming, and called us back to confirm our arrival time (so they could include us in lunch), and make sure we had the correct directions. The jeep was there waiting for us at the bottom of the mountain, and the drive was exhilarating.

Our rooms were bright and clean and the property had little signs of loving care all over it. And the view-you just have to see it to believe it! All our meals were served on time and were so much better than even our other homestay trips had served; our family unanimously agreed that all future coorg trips would be to Honey Valley.

The private waterfall on their property was a delight to the eyes and the senses, and the bird and plant life so refreshing and peaceful. Everything was wonderful.

We would have stayed longer if we had brought more clothes with us, it was just magical....we're already planning our next stay back. Jyoti and Suresh made us feel like one of their own family and were so thoughtful and warm throughout.

Good things first :)

This is a great spot for trekkers, photographers and people who want some isolation for some intense novel/story writting :) . The place is surrounded by forest hence the weather here is breezy and little cool all the time irrespective of the season. We went during the month of May and still found the weather to be OK. The rooms are simple but very clean. More attention needs to be given to rooms that are little down the plane as it gets damp even for slight rain. The food is also simple and neat. They have snacks, drinks and few essential things as part of their stock which you can buy. They have few jeeps which you can rent for going out instead of trekking.

Cons:

This place is pretty far from Madikeri (around 5 to 6 hrs travel from Mysore station) and its totally isolated so if you want to go around different places in Madikeri then you have to travel around 20 to 30 kms first and from there travel to your destination. So you end up travelling more and spend less time in sight seeing. People travelling with infants or elders just be cautious to carry everything you need. You just cant come out, walk few kms and get something. You have to travel a looong way in hilly region to reach some small shops.

To sum it up this place is not ideal for a typical tourist who wants a holiday destination where he will have luxury and visit many tourist spots in 2 to 3 days time. This place is for people who love nature, isolation and who can adjust with what they have :)

Room Tip: Choose the rooms above the restaurant .

Hi, I visted HoneyValley in the third week of may.We were a gang of 26 people..Family,bachelors and kids. I liked the place as such...but would not suggest for ladies and for kids....as family (aged parents)...the resort is soooooooooooo far...My God..We really got vexed:( and at last we reached,.It is basically 35 kms from Madekari and at Kabbinand junction,Honey valley people will come and pick u in Jeep...There are no roads,no hospitals,shops....I was really worried ...It is really isolated...

But s for bahelors...u will all enjoy...

Their hospitality was good..But i think they can rent few table fans becuase in the afternoons it was sultry..Kids found difficult without air...

Please do think if u r travelling with your family..

Thanks, :)

Room Tip: Take the rooms above the dining hall... they are quite cool at night.. Other rooms.when it rained...

We stayed here for two days in May and quite liked the place, with a few points of improvement. This is a great place to spend some time away from pollution and the hustle bustle of the city. The rooms are very average, but are quite clean and well maintained. The surroundings are splendid, very green and pretty much untouched which makes this place a gem amongst all homestays in Coorg.

Few things to keep in mind when planning to stay here:

1. The windows of the room have glass panes. So once you shut them to avoid the insects, the rooms become a little suffocating since there is not much scope of ventilation. Not advisable for those who feel suffocated in a closed room.

2. The estate has a few harmless dogs that roam around. They actually never bother the guests. However, if you are one of those that are fussy with dogs - staying here might trouble you, since they hang around the dining area while you have your food.

3. Its a quiet place, but can get bad if there is a noisy bunch of guests around. The rooms are very basic, and you can actually hear people talking around, and they can hear you as well.

4. Not recommended for senior citizens (the bumpy jeep ride uphill - quite similar to a high thrill ride in an amusement park)

We recommend this hotel if you want to spend some time amongst the greens, and dont have any issues with the points mentioned above. Great place for trekkers and photography enthusiasts.

Room Tip: Choose tranquil. Avoid taking the rooms above the dining area.
