“Fantastic!”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

This is a great place! From the moment of our arrival we felt very welcome. The drive to the lodge is very scenic. The staff welcomed us at the parking, we got a refreshing towel and a welcome drink and enjoyed a lovely lunch will enjoying the amazing views from the restaurant. The room we stayed in (Bushbuck) was beautiful. During our morning coffee (served in the room) on the veranda the game walked just in front of our room. The pool is a great place to relax. The room, staff, food , views, everything was fantastic. Best food of our trip! We highly recommended this lodge. Just go! It’s worth every shilling!

Spent a night at Mihingo Lodge while I was in Uganda this summer. Beautiful drive through the park, phenomenal dinner at the lodge, incredible rooms, and a wonderful 2 hour hike early the next morning. Would love to visit here again someday.

We stayed here for two nights and it was very good. The only thing to be aware of is that the tents are varying distances from the main lodge part. Some are really quite away away. Our had quite a steep lot of steps to it. The views from the tents & lodge are great, The food was good and the couple who manage it are very nice & helpful. We thought the tents described as luxury were not - especially after we had completed our trip & stayed in two more "luxury tents" which were much nicer and the same price as Mihingo. The tents themselves have the bed, mosquito nets, two very basic bedside tables, a desk, a bit of a wardrobe and a trunk. The bathroom is not bad & toiletries are provided. There are no plugs so you cannot charge anything but they will charge at the main lodge.

Thank you for your review. The reason why our rooms are spread out is because when we were building the lodge we had to decide whether to build them close to one another and very near the dining room or to spread them out to ensure that each room is lovely and private. We felt that privacy was more important (I’ve always hated hearing someone blowing their nose in the next door room!) We hope that most of our guests enjoy the peaceful walk from their rooms to the dining room. Depending on the age and fitness of a guest we try and give them rooms that are the closest to the dining room.
We decided to decorate our tents in a simple, attractive, safari style design rather than over filling the rooms with elaborate furniture. The luxury of our rooms is their size, the big very comfortable beds, the crisp fresh linen (by appointment to her majesty the Queen!) and the trunk which is beautifully hand-made out of leather in Uganda. A guest who stayed with us recently wrote on trip advisor “the service and the rooms were spectacular’. Each tent also has a big verandah with a sofa on it (long enough to lie down on), 2 more safari chairs and a small table which is a lovely place to have early morning tea or coffee. We are sad that you found the bathroom ‘not bad’. A guest who stayed in the same room on August 8th wrote “the shower room was just incredible’. Of course we appreciate that everyone has different taste and different opinions which we are always interested to hear.
We tried to keep the paths to the rooms as natural as possible. We used natural stones for some of the steps which are uneven, but we have found that when steps are not perfect guests take more care when walking and are less likely to fall.
We are posting some photos of the rooms because we don’t feel that your photos do our rooms justice because some of the photos you took very close to the mesh making it look as though it is not easy to see through. However, the mesh is wonderful because you hardly notice it at all as you can see from our photos.
Thank you very much for coming to stay at Mihingo and we hope you really enjoyed your Ugandan safari. With very best wishes, Ralph and Suni

We could not believe our eyes when we were shown to our room. The shower room was just incredible with its view to the water hole and the fact that the shower tray was actually built from the rock that the lodge stands on. Brilliant. The service was also first class as was the food. You will not go hungry here and the staff were keen to look after your every need, from the minute we arrived (hot towels and cold drinks!). It was a perfect break away, so peaceful.

Room Tip: The room at the top is fantastic - I think it was called the Kings room.

My husband, my daughter and myself were recently at Mihingo for two very special nights. The staff were very helpful, professional and friendly, the food was excellent and delicious and healthy.
We were lucky enough to spot leopard on our evening game drive, this was an unforgettable experience as the leopard came very close to us. The game ranger who took us was very knowledgeable and knew just what to look for - this was arranged by the Lodge and I would certainly recommend this. We saw a lot of game from the special hides on the Lodge property. My husband being a keen photographer took some truly amazing photographs due to close proximity. I would definitely go again and would highly recommend the lovely Mihingo Lodge. The boat trip on the Lake is well worth it with plenty of hippos, fish eagles and other bird life being prolific.

My wife and I were in Uganda visiting with some missionaries in Kampala and Luweero. We wanted a place to get away to for the day and decided on Mihingo. We had an outstanding time!! The lodge is beautiful, the food was outstanding and the staff was warm and inviting. I would highly recommend Mihingo Lodge to anyone. We will be sure to visit again on our next visit to Uganda!

Room Tip: We stayed in the King's room on the ridge to the right of the Dinning Area. I didn't get to...

If you need a break out of Entebbe or Kampala this is your spot. Me and my wife visit this lodge a few weeks ago and we like it so much (the park also). It is really a great spot. The roads from Entebbe were not so wonderful but when we enter the lodge they welcomed us with kindness and a cold drink and snack. It was raining but we stilled need this after a drive in the dust.

We stay two nights in Lake Mburo. Also one night at Rwakobo Rock which was a different nice.

The service and the rooms was spectacular. The treehouse was so well decorated with many nice little thing that add to the feel for the lodge. The bed clothes were crisp and smelt fresh and the view from the room was incredible. We would like to live there! We had a relaxing massage - very good.

Mihingo Lodge has some of the nicest food we have had at a lodge in east Africa. It was a buffet with lots of choice and LOTS flavour. Our packed lunch was okay as well.

Thanks to effort made my management and staff. We will come back later during this year!
