Staying at the camp brings two sensations at the same time: an old fashioned tented safari combined with relative comfort and very friendly staff.
The camp is located centrally in the park, which makes for a good starting or finish of a guided walk.
Tents are perfect, and well taken care of. At night warthogs may move below you.
The camp is intimate with an open and nice dining/lounge hut, with a view on impala and warthogs licking salt just 20 meters from where you are sitting. Occasionally a hippo wanders in the camp at night.
The food is simple, but tasty and cooked with care and pride.
we had a great time there.

we took public transport to Sanga where a pick up from the lodge collected us (21k, rough road). on arrival at the lodge we were met by the man in charge who was rather surly. after a perfunctory "welcome" he told us it was cash payment in dollars up front and spent about 3 minutes examining our dollars in minute detail, discarding some as he went;finally he said he was unable to accept about a third of them due to small tears along the note creases. He said that the banks wouldn't accept these notes... not an experience we had had anywhere else in our travels in Uganda. despite the other staff being quite friendly we were left feeling the lodge was doing us a favour allowing us to stay (they changed their minds about the cash when I refused to offer alternative notes). It has the advantage of being in the park and there is great game to see, but don't expect a warm welcome. the food was very good to be fair.

Stayed here for our final 2nights in Uganda. Zippering in and out of the tent a nuisance, but everything worked, even our last bucket shower. Staff very nice and food fine. Great views, but it would have been nice to be closer to the lake. Lots of wildlife and excellent birding. A long 5 hours from Entebbe.

We stayed here on the first stop of a Wild Frontiers wildlife tour of the country, breaking up the long journey from Entebbe to Bwindi. We booked through World Primate Safaris in the UK, who looked after us brilliantly, so can't comment on admin or booking process

The lodge is situated on a hilltop with stunning views out towards the lake. The main reception and dining area is an open-sided hut on an elevated platform, giving a great vantage point from the dinner table. Food was delicious, staff extremely friendly and helpful. The tented rooms are spacious and comfortable, and also enjoy the fantastic views out over the park. There is no running hot water, you order hot water (carried in a bucket) to your tent when you want a hot shower which works just fine. Only issue with the accommodation is that the wash basin is not in an enclosed compartment, so if you have the light on to brush your teeth in the night you may get visitors - a friendly bat in our case

Wildlife in the park is scenic more than exciting - it might feel slightly underwhelming after QENP, especially if you want to see predators - but it is great for a variety of other game, some of which you are unlikely to see elsewhere in Uganda (impala, zebra, large herds of eland). That's not to say there are no predators to see - we found a very fresh leopard kill on our guided walk, having clearly missed the culprit by a matter of minutes! The walk ended back at the lodge, which was very convenient for us and not so convenient for those staying elsewhere - possibly another reason to pick this accommodation if you are planning a visit to Lake Mburo

Overall, a nice and gentle introduction to Ugandan wildlife in very comfortable and atmospheric surroundings

Our visit Lake Mburo National Park was meant more as a stop over from the Virungas mountains in Rwanda to our final lodge this trip in the vicinity of Jinja. So we planned one night there, to make the road trip a bit more comfortable. I can tell you that we were really sorry for ourselves that we did it like this. The park really deserves a full visit, not a quick one night stop over. It is a beautiful, small national park where you can find quite a few animals that you do not find anywhere else in Uganda, like impala.

The lodge is really the type of lodge we like. Not too fancy, but spacious, clean and comfortable. It is a full tent lodge, which really gives you the feel of being out in the bush, certainly at night. You can hear all sorts of animals when you are lying in your bed. These animals can be very close indeed, since the lodge is not fenced and we have seen quite a few animals while sitting in the restaurant for dinner or breakfast. You have a small porch in front of your tent and that porch is overlooking Lake Mburo in the distance and the park surrounding it. You really have the national park at your feet when you stand out there on the porch.

Again, staff is very friendly, like all places we visited this trip. They adapt quickly to changing situations and sometimes are even a step ahead of you. We did an early morning walking safari the day we left and it was the intention to do breakfast right after the walk and then have a shower and pack our bags. But it really started to rain when we were walking and when we returned to the lodge, they already had the warm water available and asked if we preferred a shower before breakfast. We did.
The shower is something special, by the way. There is no hot running water at the tents, so they provide warm water in a canvas bag when you order a hot shower and when they have delivered the water, you can have your shower.

Dinner is a set menu, but well before dinner time they ask you if there are certainly dietary wishes that they need to consider. The food they served was really very good.
The same it true for breakfast. You indicate the evening before what you would like for breakfast and that is then available at the agreed time the next morning. Again, breakfast was really very good as well.

We visited in December 2011, and revisited during April 2012. The camp remains excellent - great tents, with good showers & toilets, and food was really good. The staff are warm & caring, and genuinely want you to enjoy yourselves. We were the only guests for one night of our stay, then one of several on following 3 nights, and the standard of service was high throughout.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have a great view over the Lake itself, but those higher up get a better one!

Staff were so friendly and helpful! This is a wonderful place and much more comfortable than we expected. Tents are large, beds are comfortable, flush toilet, and hot water for bucket shower within 5 minutes of asking. Wonderful night and morning bird sounds, tranquil and relaxing. I would happily stay here again.
