After reading rave reviews of Muisbosskerm in the press and on the 'Net, we couldn't wait to give it a try, the mouth-watering range of seafood on offer making me salivate!
It's not an a la carte restaurant - you pay at the door and it's something more like a buffet arrangement, with some differences.
Unfortunately all is not as it seems. It is indeed true that there is a huge range of seafood on offer, probably more than at any other restaurant in the country, but there is not much of it in terms of quantity.
An announcement is made, for example "Now serving Yellowtail!" and if you do not get into the queue in seconds (and if you survive the pushing and shoving) the first few may be lucky to get a small serving. The rest return to their tables with empty plates waiting for the next announcement.
While there is plenty to eat of the regular seafood that you can get anywhere else, there is a totally inadequate supply of the more unusual dishes and although what appears on the menu is a mouthwatering range, the reality is that we got to eat very little of it as there was not enough to supply even 20% of the clientele who had paid in the expectation of being able to eat anything on the 'menu'.
I think this restaurant is walking a tight line in terms of the Consumer Protection Act in terms of which our party of four certainly did not receive anything close to what was advertised and paid for.
