Great outdoor activity, see thousands of gannets breeding.
Seals, cormorants and gulls.
Walk all the way to the end of the harbour for a great view of Lambert's Bay and some great photo opportunities.
If you have a wildcard its FREE!!

“A good bird-viewing place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013

This is one of the few places in the world where you can see the gannet in breeding close to the shore. There are huge colonies of gulls of various types, cape fur seals, and cormorants, all of which come to breed from July to March. For anyone interested in photographing birds, it is a good place to visit.

“Lamberts Bay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

On the West Coast lies the town of Lambert's Bay. This little town is worth a visit. One can walk to Bird Island which 14 000 Gannets. Not only are these birds beautiful but to see them in mass is absolutely beautiful. There were seals on the island but too far away to get close up photographs. They have an enclosed look out post which is fully enclosed in glass, so one can get up real close to the birds without disturbing them.

“Interesting”

Visited here with children and enjoyed all the information given on the gannets and coastline. I would not drive here especially from Cape Town, but if you are in the area, then you should give it a go.

We thought the 50 km drive from where we were was too long, but our hosts insisted we should go . TRUE it is not the Galapagos but when in the neighborhood one should go !!
