We have just returned from a lovely stay at the Danna Hotel.
We were particularly pleased to find that the hotel manages to achieve the elusive combination of creating a relaxing environment for adults and at the same time, allows children to play and enjoy themselves. The grounds of the hotel and its proximity to the sea are magical. We loved strolling along the beach in the evenings and our daughter particularly loved walking in the internal courtyard garden with its water features and small winding paths.
We found the staff to be effortlessly friendly and accommodating. They appear to be well-motivated and professional possessing a good level of English. I would particularly like to thank Ashley and her colleagues in Straits and Co as well as the lovely Sheila and Rajesh in Planters.
Breakfast was an impressive array of European and Asian food. I indulged in a very eclectic mix of food each morning and even after six days, had not managed to get to the Chinese and Japanese area of the buffet - a good reason to return!
The food and drink service was excellent and the attention to detail, such as the sunglasses cleaning service at the pool was very novel!
The area around the hotel is currently quiet with a small parade of restaurants along the harbour. However, I am sure that if it continues to be sympathetically developed it will become a really vibrant holiday place. The jungle-clad mountains made a beautiful backdrop and the natural environment was very much integrated into the whole hotel setting.
During our stay, we were aware of building work going on nearby (a butterfly farm) but it didn't detract in any way from the holiday and the noise was more or less masked by the sound of the Jacuzzis and running water around the large infinity pool.
My husband and I both made use of the gym and I found it perfectly adequate for trying to maintain a good balance between the over-indulgence at mealtimes and trying to keep trim! It would be good if the air-conditioning could be more effective. After 10 mins on the treadmill in the sunny corner the heat was fairly unbearable! It would also be good to provide a fit ball.
We are now working out when we can find the time to make a return visit!
