The Danna is a stunning resort from the moment you walk in you are immersed in its colonial old world charm, high ceilings, rooms which have the most amazing bathrooms and comfiest beds! The photos do not do this place justice. The pool area is picturesque and looks onto a sandy white beach. We happily spent many a day of our trip lazing by the pool :) But all this was nothing compared to the service we received at the Danna. The staff are brilliant! The are genuine people whose whole purpose is to make sure you're happy and content during your stay. We have travelled to many a place and stayed at lots of 5 star resorts but none have compared to the service we received at the Danna. I would like to thank all the people who work at the Danna for making our stay such an enjoyable one. I would also recommend anyone considering a trip to Langkawi stay at the Danna....the people, the facilities and the accommodation really make this place paradise. We look forward to coming back!

We arrived at the Danna around 3 o'clock and were greeted by lovely friendly staff who assisted us with our bags and check in. Check in went smoothly, I accidentally booked a grande merchant room with two single beds, however they were happy to sort it out free of charge and we were moved to another room with a king sized bed. We received a welcome massage, and drink upon arrival.

The room was very spacious and elegant and had a comfortable bed with large luscious pillows. The bathroom was beautiful and had a nice deep bath. The air con was good although made a bit of a rustling noise at night which sometimes kept me awake ( I am one of those annoying sleepers that need absolute silence!)

Breakfast was great. When you arrive in the breakfast hall you select the hot items you would like from a menu and it is then cooked fresh for you. There was also a small buffet selection of pastries, fruit, cereals, and other nibbles. The buffet selection isn't the best selection but everything is fresh and presented nicely. They also have champagne for breakfast, included in the price, so I was helping myself to a glass every now and again!

We didnt eat at the hotel for lunch or dinner as it was a bit more expensive than the local restaurants and seemed a bit empty also, although the restaurant looked lovely and dinner down on the beach looked very romantic.

There is a quay right next door to the hotel which had some really nice restaurants so we ate out every night. There is also a shop selling duty free alcohol and snacks, and a laundry next door.

The staff and their service are what really make this hotel 5 star. Everyone you passed greeted you and seemed very genuine. They always put you first and were very efficient. The staff were lovely, although i definitely think they had too many staff members about at breakfast and I felt sorry for them as they must have been so bored! they basically pounced on your plate the second you had taken your last mouthful! We visited in the low season so im sure it's different in the high season.

There was a large infinity pool and every few hours the staff would ring a bell to indicate they were going to bring out free snacks. The beach was also very tempting and had a dedicated swimming area.

The only thing that we had a problem with was the wifi, I know I'm on holiday and shouldn't need internet! But the wifi connection was quite poor and we couldnt really do any research. My partner wrote me a note saying he was going for a walk to find wifi, the cleaner must have noticed it and she contacted us about getting better wifi!!

I would recommend this hotel and would definitely want to stay here again.

I visited this hotel with my wife as part of our honeymoon. Everything about the hotel was top class. From the welcome drink and massage to the parting chocolates as a gift, we were treated like royalty. If you want to be treated well and pampered when in Langkawi this is the place to stay.
Breakfast was exceptional. The pool was wonderful and always clean. Guests at the pool were treated to water, fruit and treats throughout the day.
Rooms were very spacious with excellent bathrooms.
Only negative was rubbish Internet connection, so if for some reason you are coming here on business be prepared for a 30 minute ride to Starbucks.

Room Tip: Avoid lower ground given the large amount of bugs (and monkeys) running around!

Our family of four really enjoyed this hotel. We had to work hard to come up with things that could be better.Well, perhaps a little more variety on the menu? But the hotel is close to other perfectly ok restaurants if you want to go out (check out the Privilege Restaurant next door). And perhaps the entertainment could be a bit livelier and more varied? But the staff were absolutely great and combined good professional skills with a genuinely warm welcome. This is a very good five star luxury hotel, and the acid test I've always relied on is how they handle a problem? Well, we certainly had one when we turned up and found our UK travel agent had booked the wrong type of rooms. Many thanks to Ms Hussein (front office manager) for sorting this out so well with us so grumpy after a really long flight. She is brilliant...

We stayed here the week of 28th August and found the Danna to be a very elegant hotel.
We were met by very friendly staff and booking in was efficient we arrived at around 1pm and our room was ready for us. We had a grand merchant room with a hillside view this was a lovely spacious room with a large balcony with table chairs and a big relaxing sofa. lovely bathroom with all the usual amenities you would expect, plenty of drawer space and wardrobe only slight problem with wardrobe is if you have long dress there is not enough length to hang them, the bed was very comfortable with the biggest pillows that you sink into.
We had a few issues with breakfast and this is where the improvement needs to be made, once shown to your seat you then have to wait for someone to take your order for coffee and also for the cooked breakfast they have a menu that you choose from and then they go and get it for you... we had to ask four times for our coffee to be brought to the table and the cooked breakfast can take forever to arrive and the eggs are 7 times out of 10 overcooked in my opinion they would do better to have an egg station where you can go to order and wait for your eggs etc.. there seemed to be too many staff at times, it got a bit better as the week went on and i am sure in time this will be sorted out.
Pool is fantastic plenty of beds, beach is ok. Staff come round at several times during the afternoon with cold water, cold towels and snacks also sun glass cleaning this is a first for us!! and happy hour between 5pm and 7 around the pool
We did not eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the food, and we found the drinks to be on the pricey side.. but there is a lovely harbor just outside with restaurants and places to have a drink
There are a couple who sing in the verandah bar in the evening they were a lovely couple and was nice to talk to them, they sing even if no one is in so go along and listen to them they work hard

there is also a games room, library and reading room and a fitness room on the top floor with great views

The Concierge will bend over backwards to meet your needs we dealt with a chap called Parthipan Sezeramal who was outstanding as are the rest of the staff always a genuine smile on there faces

All in all we had a great stay with just the breakfast issue, we feel that this could be the number 1 hotel in Langkawi in time
