“Enjoyable Stay at Ranveli Village”
Reviewed March 26, 2014

My sister & i stayed here after out tour of Srl Lanka. It was very relaxing with the sea 2 minutes walk in either direction. The reef is spectacular & being able to eat & watch the fish at the same time was very special.
The rooms were cleaned twice a day & all the bedding & towels changed every day. A kettle was given to us for use in our room to make our drinks. We did however miss a television & the wi fi wasn't always connectable & was only in the central area of the village.
The hotel rooms though we think should be due a refurb as they seem a bit tired. A tip is to check your drink bill daily to avoid any confusion.

The best thing about this place is the beach and the house reef. The beach is just outside your door and it is all white sand, azure water and a long stretch of reef with lots of different fish to see. Beware of the current though, it can be quite strong and better to use fins. The island itself is very small, would take about 10 minutes to walk around. One big disappointment was the promised sea view because there is literally none. Yes the rooms overlook the beach but the view is completely obscured by the trees in front of the houses. It does allow more privacy but then the hotel shouldn't adevrtise they have sea view. The room itself is quite simple and decor / furniture not exactly new. But it was thouroughly cleaned twice a day and fresh beach towels waiting just outside your door every morning. Food was ok but not great. I am not very picky in terms of food but I can't say I very much liked the cuisine. Very little fruit and no seafood except for some local fish. And you have to pay for all your drinks and they are not cheap. Water is $3, juice - $7, coctail - around $12-14 and a bottle of wine would cost $40-50. So in 10 days we ended up spending additional $600 on drinks. The hotel organises day trips like snorkeling, fishing, visiting the local island and there is a also a dive centre (didn't use though). We went on a day trip to see whaleshark, mantas and turtles but after spending 6 hours on a boat we only saw 1 turtle, no whalesharks and no mantas. For $100 per person trip we were not exactly pleased. There is also a spa on the island which is quite good, went there twice for a masage. Apart from that hotel doesn't offer any enterntainment so it is all up to you to find something to do especially in the evenings. There is no TV in the room and wi-fi is only available near reception and is quite slow.
Anyway if you are looking for a relaxing holiday and don't want to spend ridiculous amount of money on a hotel this place is for you. After all the reason we go to Maldives is for its beautiful nature and it is definitely great on this island.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the first floor to allow more privacy

Fantastic small island for that get away from it all holiday, the light aircraft flight to the island was great being able to fly over some other islands . Food excellent , staff very friendly, a nice room on step out of the front and in to the warm sea. Sea fishing was great and I caught a big fish which they cooked and we ate in the restaurant. Restaurant was lovely and the manta rays coming to be feed amazing. Been a while but must return

Room Tip: Beach facing room excellent

Two friends and I went to the Maldives on our February break. It was a great week. The accommodations, while sparse, were comfortable. No TVs and wifi could be patchy. The food was great...no repeats the entire week. However, the limited I times made it seem a little like camp. The water was beautiful, and the weather was awesome. Overall, I would highly recommend Ranveli.

For the 4th time been there. Again excellent. A very special relaxing atmosphere, very nice staff, food is very nice (thank you chief!). Every day they organize nice boattrips for fishing, safari (whale-sharks, Manta's and turtles) and other things. The sunset is marvelous. The house-riff is very special and only 20 meters from shore. A great place to forget all stress (if you have). Loogking forwad to next time

We got married at this hotel and it was unbeliavable good more than we expected. They arranged everything and thought on every detail.
It was a lovely staff from the beginning to end. We booked the hotel from their web site and Appu from the front office told, wrote everyday and answer all our all questions before we came and helped a lot during the our holiday. He planned everything on time without any missing..We just said him one day before the day that we want to marry and Appu organized everything very well!!!!
SPA ladies are also so lovely that they were all the time with me in my wedding they prepared my hair like a princess... I like very very much...that was our most important day and they satisfied us with everything!!!!
You feel yourself here like at home and we absolutely recommend this lovely place to you!!!

I miss it already! It begins from the most convenient and
warmest arriving to the island.Very friendly staff puts their
personality on serving and you are enjoying cosy atmosphere
,make friends with other quests or just enjoy by yourself the
beautiful scenery and sea life.
For internetholics this resort is welcome to the cure.Net works,
but slowlier you may have used to.The Ranveli team takes
good care of you by feeding properly, accommodating well,
organizing nice excursions and specially tailored things.
Maledivian climate,sunbathing,swimming,snorkeling
,diving among colorful fish and talented spa do really good.
Special thanks for awesome christmas decoration and New Year
party and of course the management. You made it.
Would be very nice to go back to this paradise.
