“Good, better in Winter”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

The thermal park is a must do when in Hanmer. It was clean, well staffed and reasonably priced. We paid $23 for entry and a free return that day.

There are around 10 or so pools with different temperatures.

The hydroslides are average, i would avoid them.

It goes without saying, that its better in Winter and in evenings. In the middle of the day, in the Canterbury summer its too hot to really enjoy.

“Not exactly the natural springs I was expecting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

It's was a nice place but as previous reviewers have mentioned it is more like a collection of warm pools rather than the natural springs that i was envisioning. They also offer private pools which you can use for 30 - 60 minutes for an extra charge with your own bathroom and showering facilities it can be a nice retreat for couples seeking some alone time.
They do have several public pools that i assume have different combinations of minerals to help invigorate the skin as we did come out feeling a bit softer, but i'm not sure it's worth all the hype as i a felt like i was at an outdoor pool centre rather than a relaxing natural spring.

“Great place to relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

Several years since we last visited and it's has changed a lot since then. Now featuring slides, kids play area, lazy river and huge kids pool. Lots of smaller thermal pools scattered around in the complex. Very popular so don't think you will have the place to yourself. Nice loungers and shaded area to escape to. Good value for money if you stay for the day - bring a picnic. Clean and well maintained.

“Great outing for the whole family”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

We have a 2 year old who loves water, but oftentimes it is too cold for her to stay in the water for long at a normal pool. The different temperature pools were perfect - we could be in the colder pool for awhile, then move to a comfortable 36C pool (many of which are shallow enough for a 2 year old to stand up in - so nice for her and for us), and even spend a few minutes in a hot tub one before repeating.

They have a 10 year old and under water play area which was really fun for us, as well as a couple of amazing slides for older kids. They have a "river" with a current that was really fun for all of us. They have coin lockers that you can reopen without paying more, and free parking in front. We could have stayed all day, but we didn´t have enough time in our schedule.

The onsite cafe is perfect for a snack, and not too outrageously expensive (on average for NZ tourist sites).

“worth the price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

a lot of pools and different kinds one, from the simple pool to the thermal one. huge changing rooms, toilets, safe for the small bags( but you have to pay for that last ones). very cheap the entrance fee but unfortunately is allways full of people, sometimes difficult to relax, expecially for unattended kids jumping in every pool ( even the thermal ones with 40 degrees...).try to find a quite time and enjoy it!
