Had looked up the menu online before heading to Hanmer and was definitely looking forward to the amazing sounding dinner after a day at the hot pool but god did we get it wrong... the garlic bread started was a garlic over load and wasn't even remotely warm, and the chicken snitzel was well over cooked with undercooked vegetables, although I do have to say the fries were lovely! Shame the person behind the counter wasn't able to smile, or explain why the meal wasn't with bacon, mushroom and garlic (as ordered) over all the place was freezing and I didn't see any staff member smile the whole time we were there. Work on a public holiday sucks but come on, your being paid to do your job and in hospitality that's to smile and be friend and serve decent food.

Usually make a couple of trips here for quick good food when on holidays..but this time was disappointed.usually find good pub food....what's happened?
We both had roast lamb.Waited a long time (?strategy to drink more).... When the meal came it was below par in size, freshness and quality..lots of fat/ gristle ,grey lukewarm gravy.think back to when this pub served your veges and meat on two separate plates as the serves were so big, not suggesting a return to this waste but surely there is a middle ground.
just a very below par pub meal

My wife and I ate here the other day and although it is in a handy location and was warm the food was very unsatisfactory I would have thought it impossible to spoil lamb shanks but they did. My seafood basket was edible but only because I was hungry.

Management and owners were disgraceful. Service and food quality not worth the money. Left and went to the local Irish bar, who displayed great service and effort to make all customers happy. Do yourselves a favour and don't bother or waste your time going to the alpine village inn there are better options.
