This place is phenomenal, a true hidden gem. The rooms are incredibly generous in size and the bathroom is divine. Location is a bit secluded, not in town, but still offers amazing views and relaxation. The restaurant delivers solid dinner experiences and the staff is incredibly friendly. Feels more like a family owned establishment due to the size of the staff but they are always super happy to help.

My husband and I booked the Alpine Romance Package for our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our time at Braemar - we didn't want to leave! The package included two nights accommodation in a luxury spa suite, a bottle of bubbly on arrival, breakfast both days, a three course meal for two in the Altitude Restaurant and a one hour full body massage in the spa. It was worth every penny! Our room was gorgeous and very clean, tidy and modern. There was a lovely letter to welcome us on the table when we arrived (along with the bottle of bubbly on ice) which outlined the main things we may need to know about the lodge and the surrounding area of Hanmer Springs - this was a nice touch. The private spa pool was divine and the double showers were very powerful, complete with massage jets! Overall it was comfort plus in the room, which was serviced very well by the staff after our first nights stay. The breakfasts both mornings were delicious - great eggs benedict - and we dined outside with an amazing view over Hanmer in great weather. Dinner was also top notch and the French waitress, Magali, who looked after us in the restaurant during our stay was delightful and very efficient. All staff were very helpful and obliging and the owners were also on site and lovely to talk to. Gaye, the therapist in the spa was amazing and gave us a fantastic massage each. We were even given transport into the township and back on the second night so that we could both enjoy a few drinks with our dinner and not have to worry about driving back - great! Thank you very much to you all for a very memorable, luxurious and relaxing honeymoon! We'll be back for our one year anniversary!

Spent 3 nights at this lovely property prior to my husband having to attend a conference in Christchurch. The hotel is situated in a peaceful, quiet location and has THE most spectacular views from the guest rooms, dining room and lounge area. The mountain vista changed constantly during our stay from snow capped mountains with sunshine to the long white cloud and rain. Couldn't keep my eyes off the changing scenery.

The guest rooms are huge and have a massive and very comfortable king sized bed. There is an open fire place, lounge area, small dining table and flat screen TV. The bathroom is also huge with a massive 2 person spa and very roomy shower. The decor is very tasteful. My only suggestion is that a small side table and foot stool would be nice when sitting in one of the large lounge chairs (as I had to balance my book / glass of wine!!! It's a hard life!).

We ate dinner in the restaurant on 2 nights of our stay and were pleasantly surprised. We had a delicious Indian meal at Corriander Restaurant in the Hamner Village on the last night of our stay after visiting the springs for an afternoon soak.

The Spa at the resort was also good and we indulged in several relaxing treatments - massage, facial and pedicure.

The BIG, BIG plus with this property is the staff - the front desk receptionist and the head waiter were fabulous. Very friendly and professonal - examplary customer service - nothing was too much trouble.

All in all - great value in a fabulous location. We came away feeling like we'd been away a lot longer and totally relaxed.

My mom and I stayed there for 2 nights/3 days before heading back to Christchurch. It was a bit of a drive off the main road but once you get there, you are welcomed by gracious staff who take care of you instantly and accompany you to HUGE rooms that have large spa baths as well as refreshments. You open the window that overlook these snow capped mountains that are so beautiful it looks fake. The food also is EXCELLENT and we highly recommend dining there for dinner. Also we took advantage of the spa which is also lovely and very relaxing. It was a great end to our 20 hr trip back to the States and are dying to go back again. This hotel represents class.

It seems breamar lodge is ok to stay if it is not raining . We stayed recently and were woken to a fire alarm going off due to water coming in through the roof . It was raining outside but not overly heavy . We were shifted at 2AM to another room which had a roof with water damage and bubbling from water damage . I was worried the whole roof was going to come in . the lodge is not a 5 star stay . obviously poorly managed and mantainance not high on their priority . In the morning no mention from the manager . I felt sorry for the staff having to try and deal with the mess .

We were naturally disappointed to hear of our guests' problem. It had been raining heavily for 3 days continuously and this set off a smoke dector in their room in the middle of the night. The Duty Manager arranged a replacement room (an upgrade to a larger Medway Suite) which also had some rain damage. In the morning our Duty Manager was naturally concerned that our guests had been inconvenienced and gave them complimentary refreshments, extended their stay past usual check out time and offered a $50 voucher as a token of our disappointment that their stay had been interrupted. A builder has been called to inspect the roof and repair it as soon as possible.

Absolute luxury with the warmth and charm of a small lodge. The rooms are beautiful and cozy, beds offering a comfortable nights rest and scenery to die for from your room - who needs TV!!. The staff are friendly and accomdating. We could not thank them enough for making special meals for our very fussy 11 year old. We will definitely return.

I was impressed with Braemar as soon as we arrived. My husband had stayed at Braemar a few months earlier for a work conference and had told me how luxurious it was and he was right. Our room was spacious and beautiful, with a glorious gas fire that is perfect for relaxing in front of and a deck with a lovely view. The huge bed was very comfortable. Our enormous bathroom was also a delight with a deep spa bath plenty big enough for two and a great double shower.

We had breakfast and dinner (Braemer doesn't do lunch) and were impressed with the presentation, flavours and service. The Lodge's lounge is an attractive area to sit in and read the paper, with an open fire and good selection of games and books.

We will definitely return to Braemer the next time we need a luxury escape.
