“great value, better once construction is done....”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

I dropped in to el yaque on a fri night, with no reservations, this place was a great find, cost was 750bs (or about us $35 with the blackmarket exchange rate) for 2 of us including a great breakfast, and a great oceanfront room. had a simple but clean room, with a great view from the large balcony. only drawback from the view was the renovations happening on the terrace below. the price for a week, is much better, drops to about 500bs a day. it was a great find, last minute. and one of the better priced joints on the beach! it seems that the price if you drop in is much better, than if you book online. this may be due to the crazy dual exchange rate.....

Hotel rooms are quite basic but who goes to Margarita to sit in a hotel room? I gave it 4 stars because of a beautiful surrounding, nice deck with a view of the sea, nice breakfast on the same, which just makes your day, swimming pool good for kids and 30 sec distance to the beach, 3 surf- equipment rentals within 15 sec reach. Perfect for windsurf and kite. Restaurant is expensive but a lot of other places within 5 min check-out ( I strongly recommend The sharks - I think the last one on the beach, left from the hotel).
The sleep would be good if not for a very thin door in our room dividnig other room and guests from us. Beware, cause the neighbours know exactly what you are doing... ;-)Not sure if that's the case in all the rooms.
Nevertheless, I loved the stay. Nice break from totally commercialized world of big hotel chains, with little inconviniences but in a beautiful place like this, who cares? My 4 year old, also loved it..

The hotel is small but nice. The restaurant is good but expensive.. Perfect for windsurf and kite surfing. But also to enjoy the beach and even take a day trip to Coche island. The junior suite was very nice and clean with a beautiful view and a small kitchen ( convenient as the restaurant is too expensive for the food being served). The small swimming pool does the trick. The deck is just beautiful. However, I found all the services way too expensive for he simplicity of the place including the bar. Just walk around the beach to find better prices for food and beverages.

Room Tip: Go for the junior suite

We have spend a week in the Surf Paradise as it is very well located for windsurfing and kite surfing. We were in a Junior Suite very close to the swimming pool which was very convenient as our baby could enjoy playing in the deck area and the swimming pool. The hotel is very basic, with nice staff but very bad service. Good location and amazing views from the deck. However, it is extremely overpriced, the breakfast is very poor. With small efforts (cleanness, service, decoration and better breakfast) it could have been a very enjoyable hotel.

Room Tip: If you can afford it take junior suite are standard rooms are extremely small with views on the back...

Hotel is small but nice. They charge you for everything. Internet is very poor connection. Almost never works. The restaurant next door was excellent. Great service and excellent food with good prices. My luggage was torn open and credit cards and all cash were stolen while they were in the room and door was locked. They won't do anything for you and most people do not speak English.
