Mancora Marina Hotel

I had a wonderfull time at Mancora Marina Hotel. The people that work here are really nice, they try their best to please you with every need you may have. This is my second time here and I have noticed a lot of changes, service is better, they have a really nice concierge who is very helpful, when i've been at the pool they are constantly offering me drinks and appetizers. The food is delicious, they take their time, but it's worth it, i recommend the pesto rissotto and panko shrimps!!
Last time i stayed here i suggested to have music at the bar and at the restaurant all day long, now that i'm back they have installed it, and it sounds wonderful, it gives a whole new vibe to the hotel.
You should definitvely go out in the hotel's "Trimaran", they will take you sailing for 3 hours and also swim in the ocean. You can't miss it!
Finally, just want to say that Mancora is a small town with wonderfull and beautiful beaches, this hotel is the best way to enjoy it. I'll be back next year!

This hotel looks really nice at first sight (also on their website). Unfortunately, if you have a closer look or even made the mistake to stay there (as we did for a week) you find out that it is below every standard. The “service” is comedy. Some other commentator wrote about fishermen sons lacking knowledge in working in the tourism industry. This might be true. The staff is nice and trying. The problem is the management. If you send me fishing on one of the fishing boats anchoring in front of the hotel without instructions it will end up in a disaster and a couple of laughs. Unfortunately that is what happening in this hotel with the staff. And we had quite a few laughs. I don’t think tripadvisors.com allows you enough space to write down the full list of shortcomings, so I will limit it too a few examples to give you an idea that this place lacks even the most basic:
1. They don’t have enough towels (that is what they told us) if the hotel is full…
2. Soup is served with a folk not a spoon
3. If you order dish with a sauce it might happened that the sauce is served 30min after the dish (don’t expect to eat together, the other dish was always served at least 20-30 min later)

As I said these are only three examples, there were tons more.

The breakfast is horrible and boring. You basically have the choice between eggs and eggs. And is it too much to ask for a hotel in this category to serve the coffee hot not cold? At least they have a microwave…every morning the same procedure…unbelievable!
On top the hotel – although only 1 year old – already needs maintenance. The rooms are dirty, a bit rundown and with a lot of stains (towels, curtains, sheets). The room was very dirty when we arrived. At least that improved after we complained. With better maintenance the rooms could be very nice. They are spacious and stylish. Nice oceanviews.
Location of the hotel is also a problem. Being next to the fishing harbor the hotel suffers an invasion of flies and mosquitos (there are some mosquitos everywhere in Mancora, but by far not as many). As it is unfinished you also feel like sitting on a construction site. On top, the hotel is located on the ugliest beach in Mancora (stay further down at Pocitos) which is not looked after and no good for swimming.
I can’t remember staying at a place with a worse service in the last 10 years. Everybody was complaining. There are many options. Don’t get fooled by the first impression.

This a a very nice hotel, almost new but with problems in service and eventually maintenance. We stayed for 4 days, the rooms were very nice and clean.
The first thing that bothers me was that at checkin they ask me to pay all days in advance and they ended up cleaning one of the two rooms I booked 3 hours later.

Room was very nice, ocenview is amazing. I asked to change two burn lamps from the first day and they didn't take care of ... I spoke to the manager because the air conditioning was very nosy, he promise me they will take care and nothing happens.

Nice people at the restaurant and pool but very unprofessional. It takes more than half an hour to have a beer by the pool, the same for the restaurant. Breakfast is poor.

Compared with intenational price, price performance is still good and this is the best hotel in Mancora. The beach is not good, in this area is short and with stones. If you like beaches, go for a hotel in Vichayito, 15km south from Mancora.

For the owners: you must train people and take care of maintenance and service ... how do you think to expand if you can't manage 12 rooms properly ?
