If you get a room looking onto the ocean the spot couldn't be better. However, there are rooms at the back with only cold water which cost the same. I paid 60 soles for a single room. The sun loungers are within the hotel which is great as you have a fabulous view and can use wifi there.
The rooms are basic with three beds so great if you're in a group. Service is non existent really, you are left on your own. The man who runs it is pretty friendly ( I speak Spanish) but his wife a bit of a sour puss. She only smiled at me once in a whole week I was there and made me feel really unwelcome. Don't leave your keys with them as often there is nobody there and they'll be left unattended.
It's touch and go about noise. I had some peaceful nights but Ham & Eggs started a raucous party at 1am one night... Other nights drunk people pass by the beach shouting. Other than that the position can't be beaten in Mancora beach, namely because of being able to watch excellent surfers all day right from your sun lounger.
The yoga classes are great for all levels and the teacher who is a lovely American woman is so friendly. For surf classes Pilar is good but make sure you get her alone and not one of her helpers if you are a beginner.
The sunsets are stunning in Mancora, the light just beautiful. Las Pocitas is another lovely beach a half hour walk away( when tide is low). The town is a bit dirty with lorries wizzing by. It is not the Caribbean but a lovely place all the same.
