“The Best Restaurant in Canoa...... probably!”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

When the owner of the hotel you're staying at eats here, you can be sure that the food is good. To actually sample to excellent Paellas and seafood is a joy.
This restaurant is always busy - and for good reason! We couldn't fault the food and the lady who took your booking and took you to your table was very polite, very knowledgeable and very efficient. She was clearly a professional and when a couple of the other staff were slacking off, she didn't let the customers down and made sure that the other staff got back on task. She managed to "up-sell" a salad that we didn't necessarily need but was exquisite. The chef is from Catalonia (in Spain) and his are Catalonian paellas, as opposed to the more traditional from Valencia. You can taste the difference - of course both are lovely. The seafood dish for two was an absolute delight (see the picture) which meant that you got fish, half a lobster and king prawns, all perfectly cooked. It was hard to not go to this restaurant and when we did go elsewhere, one night, we regretted not being at the Costa Brava!!! That says it all!

“Glad we ordered the salad to go with the paella”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

Having eaten so many prawns over the last few months we were presented with a paella option of "you can eat this with a fork", ie lobsters and prawns would be shell free, we didn't expect tough lobster, microscopic prawns (unlikely fresh) and black calamari. I would describe the general taste as edible but not like any paella I have eaten in Spain. After burning my wrist on the pot I tasted the paella and it reminded me of escargot, except it needed salt and I think lemon would have been good. We had a generous, delicious salad which thankfully balanced out the heaviness of the paella. The Spanish white wine was good, staff pleasant, wait time almost one hour with no bread or any other teaser - I really liked the ambience especially the lanterns. Don't order the paella!

“good look poor food”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

on the heart of the main street "the broodway" the restaurant seems to be good: very fashionable look but really poor food. I ate the chipirones fritos and a disgusting paella! they serve touristic food woren as spanish... Spain is thousands kilometrs from Canoa Quebrada and the food served as well!!!

“Small meals and bad staff”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

Our rice came with steel from the sponge. They took forever to take our order, bring our drinks and our food. The salad had sand grains still in it. We asked for medium rare steak and it came blue. The sauce was nice, but that's it. Then when they finally brought us a new rice portion we had already finished our meal. The portions were very small. The only reason we did not walk out was because we were very hungry and very tired at the end of a whole day of traveling. When I complained the owner offered a 10% discount I told him he should be so lucky to get half the of the bill.
