I live in New York but have a farm in Puerto Rico about 20 minutes away from Luquillo Beach. A friend recommended Ay Bonito! Grill at Kiosk 21 and I decided to try it. Within a few weeks, I have been there four times and each time the meal has been absolutely delicious. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that there a couple of options for me -- the soy, veggie burger is the tastiest I have ever had -- with a fresh bun and perfect fries. The spring rolls are equally flavorful and come with a wonderful sauce that contains chunks of peanuts. Chef Paul Martinez is a master of flavors and creates food to remember. One night I invited a Puerto Rican friend to dinner. He had the Mahi Mahi and said it was the best he'd ever eaten. Chef Paul and his wife Yoly, who is the charming hostess of this simple yet sophisticated eatery, are so welcoming that you'll be rooting for the success of their venture by the time you depart.

I LOVE Ay Bonito! Grill
Happened upon it originally by chance and invited a few friends to join for a guesthouse owners dinner there several months ago. Food was delicious, fresh, creative, reasonable price and made to order. This does give a bit of a wait for the meal but it is a wait well worth your time! Some of the most yummy and creative entries and appetizers..including some great veggie selections. That is hard to find in Puerto Rico.
I send all my guesthouse guests there whenever possible with confidence..I know that Paul and Yoli will serve them up some wonderful food and warm welcome. Ay Bonito! Grill is fantastic!

We recently stayed at El Conquistador in Fajardo. Prior to my trip, I found the names of several restaurants within a short driving distance for dinner. Ay Bonito was one, another was Pasta y Pueblo in the town of Luquillo.

Ay Bonito was in the middle of the kiosks located at Luqillo Beach (Kiosk 21). The restaurant is relatively new (within the past 9 months), and I was told that the owner (who also is the chef) had moved to this location from somewhere else in a nearby town.

The food was delicious. Everything is cooked to order so is all freshly prepared. The server had several recommendations, all of which we found excellent. We originally ordered a chicken satay appetizer, and he noted that this was not availalbe, but suggested another dish. One of us had a macademia-encrusted fish, which was absdolutely delicious; the other, a nicely spiced grilled chicken breast. Both were accompanied by a small salad and plaintains (one deep fried, the other mashed). The cuisine in general is considered international rather than local. The menu itself, while small, had a bit of variety. Even some of the wraps and salads looked good! The open air setting was divine, particularly since it rained that evening.

Service was great. We spent a long time talked with the owner and his wife, who were kind enough also to recommend a few other places in the area. I would eat here again. Not only was the food excellent and decently priced (particularly for what it is), but I would like to see this couple succeeed! They have great plans to expand into the back of the restaurant, which now backs up to a beach.

Nice little place (maybe 8 small tables). Menu was small but varied- a little of everything. Salads, fish, wraps, chicken, churrasco, shrimp. And it changes every so often. Food was very tasty. And prices were very reasonable. Some nice hot and spicy sauces too.
We were a table of 6, food took a while to come out (only 1 chef). But it was nicely presented, fresh and hot. And surprisingly, not just Puerto Rican food (with that name I assumed it would be comida criollo!).
Live music (we went on a Thursday night)- nice touch but a little loud for conversation.
