“We loved the Ceiba Country Inn”
Reviewed February 25, 2005

We stayed there in Feb 2005 for 2 days right before our cruise and it was great! If you want a quiet place to totally unwind from corporate America before your cruise, this is the place. Clean and well maintained as any big name hotel, it offered seclusion, quiet nights, close proximity to the rain forest, and if you absolutely need a TV, there is one in the bar. We rested on the patio late at night and suddenly realized there were NO MOSQUITOS!!

My wife and I stayed at this Hotel/Bed and Breakfast. It is very small and very clean. I would recommend anyone who is looking for the slow pace to choose this place. Obviously tv is out of the question since there is only one in the bar area. The views are excellent. It is not in a tourist area but it isn't hard to find. There are small signs all along the road leading up to the place. The eastern part Puerto Rico is a much slower pace. If you are looking for relaxing then this is the place for you. If you complain about your room at a Marriott or a Holiday Inn, then don't come here - Stick with the $450 a night hotel. For all the others who want a nice place with a nice little breakfast of 2 homemade breads, multiple fruits, cereals, sliced bread and jelly, and 4-5 different juices then you'll be happy. You obviously have to leave the hotel for entertainment. Good restaurants, Beaches, Casino, rainforest, horseback riding, scuba diving, sailing excursions, movies, malls, etc are all 15 to 20 minute drive

We just returned from 12 days in PR, and spent our last night, happily, at Ceiba Country Inn. It was a fluke, actually, because we didn't even plan on being on the east coast of the island until that day, and so hadn't made any plans. We just drove in and asked for a room and were so pleased with the find.

If you want a San Juan or beach resort experience, don't come here. But this isn't a funky "Guess House" either. It's immaculately clean, safe, up on the edges of the rain forest, and actually IN Puerto Rico, not in the sadly Americanized resort areas. The hosts are really helpful about finding the kind of dining you are interested in, letting you know what's available to do, etc.

We had Room 5, on the mountain side, where from a shaded porch we watched the sunset sky over El Yunke, and heard the coqui sing all night long. (The other side is the ocean view side. both are spectacular from this height.)

We can't wait to visit again! Great value for your travel dollar and for the traveler looking for something comfortably above the lower level guest houses, but wanting to not go to the expensive and sterile tourist hotels either.

Ceiba County Inn was even better than i could have hoped. The privacy of our own room and bathroom is much nicer than most B&B settings. Everything was clean and neat. The country setting was quiet and calm which is necessary if driving anywhere in PR. We will be back eating bananas & coconut from the trees very soon. Sue & Dick were fantastic hosts!

After reading the fabulous reviews, we stayed at the inn. Unfortunately the inn keepers were away at the time. It was a good deal, but not quite as fabulous as I previous reviews had led me to believe.

The "fabulous fruit breakfast" was nothing fabulous. Very rudimentary. Service was very limited. I did not have the experience others did, perhaps due to the substitute staff.

The environs were a mix of good and bad. It was great that it was near the tropical rain forest. At least you could hear it, but the drive to see it is a bit of a hike. Getting to this place, you do drive through some working class areas of Puerto Rico.

It's off the beaten path, that's for sure. There is nothing to do in the immediate area. Facilities at the inn are basic. Ants. No television. Limited lighting in the rooms. Rooms moderately clean.

So, all in all it was a pretty good value, but a little further off the beaten path then you might want.

The host/hostess were friendly. We felt comfortable, and largely safe. Weather was very pleasant and I have no complaints about being bitten by bugs.

My family and I stayed at the Ceiba Country Inn for 4 nights during the first week of July. I had chosen the inn based on the great reviews I read, and also, it was in close proximity to my grandparents home.
It was a wonderful stay. The inn is hidden away up on a hill so it is secluded. From it's large patio there are mountain and ocean views. AHHHHHHHHHH!
The room was a nice size, with 3 beds (1 queen, 2 twin), ceiling fans and A/C. The roooms have no TV's which adds to the slow pace. The lounge does have a TV though.

Windows had screens to keep out mosquitoes. At night, the surrounding forest comes alive with the sounds of the Coqui.
Breakfast is served each morning which consists of juices, coffee, assorted island fruits and breads.
( The bread is to die for!)
The innkeepers have several dogs which are friendly. The morning we checked out, Dick, one of the innkeepers was kind enough to show my daughter a coqui he had found.
That was a treat we will never forget, since the tiny frogs are always heard yet seldom seen!
If you are looking for a quiet secluded country getaway I highly recommend the Ceiba Country Inn.

We stayed 4 nights at Ceiba Country Inn while visiting Pureto Rico for a long weekend. The Inn was very clean and secluded located in a rain forest setting on a hillside overlooking the Luquillo Mountains to one side and the sea to the other. There are no TVs in the room so you are serenaded by the chirping of the Coqui' frogs at night. Breakfast was good and the use of their gas grill was very convenient after long days sailing and snorkeling or laying on the beach.
