Upon walking into this hotel you are immediately found in a calm, cool, environment. To say the streets in front of this hotel are hectic is an understatement. This hotel is an oasis of rest in the midst of it all. We stayed on the imperial floor and that was even more low key. There were very few people in the lounge at any given time. It was beautifully decorated and the food was tasty and staff well trained. There was a party going on at the pool which our room overlooked and was rather loud but it was not disturbing to us. We were staying in the city visiting family in the area.
I was impressed with the massage, credits to the casino, relaxation room time and free drink upon arrival and complimentary welcome drink in the hotel. The room may be priced high for the Dominican but certainly well below the price of the same accommodations in a US hotel. I would say our room was in line with a Ritz Carlton accommodation in the states.... for which we would have paid significantly more. Massage chairs in every room was a nice touch as well.
The food in the bar area was fine, not exceptional, we did not dine in the main hotel restaurant. We typically avoid hotel restaurants and try to find interesting dining choices elsewhere. The breakfast buffets were very nice on both the 5th floor and the main floor. Happy hour on the Imperial club was simple but a nice touch for the evening.
If you are used to paying for nice accommodations in the States, this hotel is a bargain.
