Stunning place to stay - not luxurious, pretty basic, but it has a huge roof area with stunning views, hammocks and great dogs to play with, and a really beautiful garden. There is a house for guests with a kitchen - we had the room on the top floor which opened onto the huge patio roof. In a wonderful rural area near Santiago away from the hustle and bustle. A quiet area to walk around, with very friendly people. We fell in love with Gaby who manages the place for the Canadian owner, and Eric who was willing to drive us anywhere. You can get a taxi from the town fro 400 pesos, but Gaby or one of her family, friends or neighbours will always pick you up or drop you off in town for petrol money. Eric will drive you round Santiago and take you anywhere you fancy. Gaby's house is on site and her family and dogs are lovely. Gaby cooked us vegetarian meals - although she isn't used to vegetarians the food was lovely and creative. Breakfast was slightly eccentric, but who cares? We loved this place - great value for money and if you want to get to know Dominican people this is a great way to do it. Santiago is great fun and very tourists seem to go there. I recommend the modern art gallery the Leon Centre. They have some wonderful modern art, and had a Picasso exhibition when we were there.
