“The Best Family Restaurant In Grand Bend”
Reviewed April 7, 2012

This review refers to the Club House not the main Dining Room. The restaurant overlooks the golf course. The dining area is handsomely decorated with a masculine den like atmosphere. It is tastefully done and loaded with sports and celebtity memorabilia linked to the owners fame and fortune.

The menu is varied and interesting. There are the usual burgers and fries but also many home style choices. Tonight the specials were meat-loaf or steak. There are no bad choices but my favourites are the ceaser salad or daily soup with the reuben. If you are very hungry do not miss the mussels which are always prepared to perfection.

The service is friendly and done by full time adult wait staff locally grown. It is never formal or unfriendly and is used to kids of all ages as well as golfers and couples out for a meal.

All of this makes for a very pleasant meal. It's perfect for families and with all of the other features well worth the visit. I would rank it the third best restaurant in Grand Bend after Fine and The Schoolhouse.

“Nice Stop, after a long day”
Reviewed February 19, 2011

After riding 100 miles on our snowmobiles to get here, 6 of us were a little disappointed to find a tiny 2 person hot tub, Room was clean, but older. Very noisy neighbors that were in party mode, rooms are not real well insulated.
We were told we did not have to have reservations at the pub, only to find ourselves with hungy bellies and a very SNOBBY manager there, went over to an overcrowded understaffed Dining Room, the food was good, service ok. Told because we did not have reservations we would have to wait....we were ok with that, this is a not in a hurry, out for a good time group....the behaviour of the staff was really starting to put a damper on our evening though....
We have stayed here before and had a much better experience...really should get rid of the snob running the pub. Last year in the summer we stayed in one of the newly renovated suites it was really nice, which is what prompted us to go back...not so sure i would rush back again.

“An Very Good Choice!”
Reviewed September 1, 2010

My husband and I along with our 4-yr old daughter stayed at Oakwood Inn Resort in Grand Bend during a mini-heat wave here in Ontario. We had a great time! We stayed in one of their updated rooms in the Oak Lodge, which had beautiful high ceilings and the rustic, wood appearance as well as wall mounted TV, fireplace, small fridge and a patio. I have to say the air conditioner worked amazing (thank goodness!) since it was so warm, and you use a remote to set the temperature. The bed was amazingly comfy (Simmons Beautyrest Felicity II pillow top mattress) and there were lots of extra pillows and blankets compared to typical hotel chains.

The pool was in the building across from us, and was never crowded, which was perfect for my daughter who is learning to swim. They resort has their own private sandy beach, which was great, because the main beach in Grand Bend was packed! The sunsets were beautiful. We ate at the Clubhouse for most of our meals, and it was very good and reasonably priced. My husband played a round of golf (as we received 2 passes when we booked our package) and enjoyed that very much. The course actually meanders throughout the resort property which was a little different.

The only downfall, depending on what you want from your vacation time, was that Grand Bend really didn't have much to offer. There isn't a Walmart or Zellers or really any shopping, outside of a 24 hrs Sobeys and a Shoppers Drug Mart. There are small stores on the 'main strip' in Grand Bend that leads to the beach, but it was full of bikini's and bathing suits, which was not what we were looking for as I forgot to pack my daughter's pajamas. Needless to say, she slept in a sundress during our stay.

All in all, a very nice place to get away. Beautiful scenery and the resort staff were very friendly and accommodating.
