“Charming, beautiful views”
Reviewed September 30, 2013 via mobile

My sister and I stayed one night in this charming hotel. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The room had a fabulous view, albeit the bed was small and we didn't get twin beds. The staff did pull down the couch so we didn't have to sleep together. I love my sister, but long gone are the days when we could share a bed! The chef prepared a seafood platter for dinner, it was the best seafood I've ever had and I have eaten shellfish all over the world! The breakfast was delicious, my sister said the sausages were the tastiest she has ever had. I had the locally caught kipper, took some work to debone but the fish was so tasty, so worth it. In the evening the hotel had a fiddler and guitarist, very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend the hotel, prices are high when hotel is full, but on quieter evenings you can get a deal. Unfortunately it was busy when we were there so had to pay full price!

Very helpful staff all round, especially Jon the chef who made us special vegetarian dishes which were unusually good.
The hotel is old fashioned but comfortable. The position overlooks part of the town but views of Skye, Rhum and Eigg are stunning.

Room Tip: Double rooms on 2nd floor are rather cramped (singles ok) but have great views of Skye, Rhum and Eig...

My husband and myself got off the steam train from Fort William and had afternoon tea at this
hotel. It was absolutely superb. The cups were beautiful and the food was incredible. Smoked Scottish salmon sandwiches were delightful. Thank you staff

Our stay at this hotel was for a wedding in camasdarroch. What wonderful friendly staff. The room was very clean with fantastic views. Dinner I had mussels for starter and scallops for main which were superb, my husband had scallops and steak which was cooked to perfection. I would recommend this hotel and would like to return in the future.

Pros: Spectacular views of Skye, etc
It's two minutes from station
Very clean, pleasant room
Properly hot shower
Great breakfast - great kippers
Nice staff

Con: Only one, but if you're elderly it's significant - the hotel is at the top of a very steep hill - hence the views - and then there are steps up to it and no lifts. (Though kind receptionist carried up my suitcase two flights.) The station has no taxis.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front

I spent three nights here over a weekend. The superior room was well worth paying for - plenty of space, great walk-in shower, fantastic views, all-in-all, a very comfortable room. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. Food was good, kippers at breakfast outstanding!

Nice small hotel with good staff, working in one very old building.
The age of the building means there is no space for lifts, so,travel light.
But you can count on the solicitude of the staff.
Good breakfast.
