Where do we begin!!!! Entrance dirty, bucket of rubble in doorway. Horrible smell. Filthy carpets and rugs. Looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years!!!!! Reception in bar full of drunks even though it was only 5.00 pm. Everyone turned and looked when I said I had booked a room. Something from a horror film. Given key not shown to room. Corridors run down and dirty, carpets filthy. Wood work round doors unfinished. Room very very basic, old furniture, felt grubby. I'd rather have been camping. Bathroom filthy dreadful condition. Just appalling, words can not describe it, We had booked for two nights and instantly booked alternative accommodation. Looking back we should have just left. We ate out at the local Bistro which was really really good. Slept, then bearable breakfast but dinning area was dirty, grubby plates and more. Felt dirty. Owner served in same clothes as night before stinking of drink and fags. Next night spent in a beautiful hotel with great atmosphere and it cost ten pounds less !!!!!! Horrendous experience, from start to finish apart from a wonderful meal and fantastic service at the bistro. This is the first review I have ever written in my life about any product and it reflects how strongly I feel about my stay. DO NOT GO.

We had been driving and visiting castles all morning so when we pulled into Lochcarron, we were too early to check in. Nigel assured us that the room would be ready and it was when we returned form Applecross hours later. The inn is historic in that it was a drover's inn back in the day and they have attempted to keep it in that feeling. The halways are a little cramped but the room was sufficient and the view across the loch was fantastic. We had dinner in the dining room-good grub especially the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. Breakfast was the full Scottish meal-complete with black pudding if you wanted.
There were 2 labs circulating at all times but Nigel had them under control and they did not bother anybody. They have their own sofa and you could tell it's their home.

Been here many times for meals over the past few years and never been disappointed.

Yes, the dogs can be a bit of a nuisance and the place is a tad tired as others have said, but the food can't be faulted. Real ales available, I think the Hebridean Gold was £3.15 a pint which was a lot cheaper than at the Torridon Inn.

Pleasant staff.

From the outside, it does look a wee bit tired and inside had that 'well lived in feel' which is not to it's detriment.

I had a simple, good value 'All day Breakfast' which was exactly what it said on the menu.

There were some 'interesting' characters in the bar, even at lunchtime....all adds to life's rich....

Great location for watching the ever changing views over the Loch, love it!

Lochcarron is a nice wee village, mostly on the side of the water on the northern shore with a few shops and a filling station...well worth a stop-off at, go take a look..!

After many hours of driving we arrived at this hotel Lochcarron and we felt it was the best accommodation. In the past had to be a decent hotel but currently seems a little 'overlooked. Rooms sufficiently cleaned , vintage furniture, bathrooms should be renovated. In the corridors of the hotel there is a smell that, fortunately, is not present in the rooms. The food is decent. The value for money is quite satisfactory. There were two cute black labradors but, in my opinion,  they should not wag its tail inside the restaurant. If I was not tired of driving I reached another place .. otherwise one night you can also spend in this hotel.

We had not organised prior accommodation and stumbled upon the Lochcarron Hotel. At first sight the 2 women in our travelling party of 2 couples were hesitant but the staff could not have been more helpful. Yes the rooms are tired but the view over the water was magnificent. Bed was fine but linen was very tired. Lovely dinner and one of the better breakfasts we have had so far on our trip. 82 pounds was high tariff compared to the value in B and Bs but we enjoyed the change. Magical view from window at dinner of rainbows over water. After 2 weeks in UK we have become more accustomed to well behaved dogs everywhere.
