“Unbelievable Value”
Reviewed October 28, 2010

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in May and it is a great spot to explore the area from. Our room was pretty basic but they knocked some money off because of that. The rest of the hotel suggested the good rooms would be very good. Superb value for money.

Just had a brilliant weekend at The Queensberry Arms.
We found this hotel the perfect place as it was only 10 miles from Gretna Green.
The rom was comfortable clean and represented excellent value for money. It was well serviced each day .
The service and the food was to a very high standard. The choice on the menu downstairs was extremely wide ranging to suit everybody's taste and there is also an Italian restaurant upstairs which was good value for money.
The staff throughout the whole hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

Stayed here for five nights recently. Had more parking than most places I've stayed including a building suitable for our motorbikes (just a shame no roof). They accomodated our breakfast needs when we were not wanting a full english breakfast all the time. Also its the only place I have ever stayed where breakfast went on till 10.00am. Most places want you down for breakfast and out but we could actually have a bit of a lay in (which we did nearer the back end of the holiday). Ideally located for eating and drinking if not always wanting to stay in the hotel and wanted a change. Although there was plenty of choice in the hotel with carvery, steak nights, italian and pub meals all at reasonable prices. Going on the motorbikes also meant that if the weather was bad it was handy to still get about to different places with a train and bus station nearby. The rooms were cleaned daily and comfortable with freeview tv and built in DVD players and tea/coffee making facilities that were always topped up (I'm sure if you drank a lot you could always ask the staff for more as they were friendly). So friendly in fact that they tried to find the information for bus/train times for us without us having to walk anywhere so they are willing to help you out if you ask them. We found it good value for money and would recommend it to other people.

Dirty, noisy (pipes and general workings of the hotel) bugs (looked like fleas) in net curtains and on windowledges, mould in shower, cover plate on shower missing, shower tap kept falling off. Toilet seat worn to bare wood, rusty srews (urine coated) holding down the toilet.
Beds were extremely uncomfortable due to random springs poking though mattress top, filthy carpeting throughout. Could not wait to leave, stayed one night only. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.

Really enjoyed my short stay here. Couldn't fault anything. The room was good and well equiped. The staff were all excellent and the food was greart. To cap it all the prices were very reasonable too.

We stayed at the Queensberry Arms on our way home from an 800 mile round trip, arrived exhausted, hungry and with nothing left. What an absolute Godsend it was.

It wasn't just that it was clean, quiet and comfortable with a huge supply of fluffy towels, cushions, freeview TV, free tea and coffee - everything to make guests feel welcome and at home.

The food in their relatively new italian restaurant was out of this world with a fantastic menu choice, and helpful, friendly staff.

The thing that really knocks spots of anywhere we've stayed in a while was the service was absolutely second to none - talk about going the extra mile. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff made us feel truly welcome.

An absolute gem, and we'll definitely be back.

In todays world of being just a number it was great to actually be treated like a human being. The staff here go the extra mile in customer awareness and make you feel at home, where nothing is too much trouble. The food was excellent, prepared fresh and at a fantastic price. The rooms are clean, tidy and well decorated. we had room 24 which had a four poster bed, jacuzzi, shower, bidet, tv, tea making facilities and a trouser press for £48 per room per night. This is without doubt the best hotel both my wife and i have stayed in, in Scotland, over the last 20 years and will definitely go back. THANK YOU....... Jim (photographer) and Chris
