Lovely old-world hotel in the throes of being updated. Staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Evening meal and Breakfast were excellent and served with a smile. Lovely area to have a holiday. Annan is a good central point with lovely walks by the river.

Room Tip: Ideal stop off point to visit Gretna, the Lake District or further north

Stayed for 2 nights in this hotel. It was value for money but could do with an awful lot of TLC. Staff were very pleasant. NO wifi in every room. Not even in reception area. However the breakfasts were very good and the bar friendly. The view from the window was dirty mattresses and old chairs. The bathroom smelled of tobacco smoke and the bed base was stained. Bedding was immaculate though

I stayed here with my family for ROM event 2012, The room smelled very musty on account of the rotting pile of mattresses and other junk below our window. There were supposed to be free wi fi in all the rooms, the internet was off, but if it were on, we would of had to sit downstairs, out of range of the router the staff said, misleading there I thought, I was told breakfast was from 7 am, we got to the hotel restaurant at 07 10 on the Sunday morning, nobody in site, the kitchen closed and the place was in darkness, we had to leave with no breakfast. This hotel is only good if you want somewhere to get your head down after a night on the town.
On the up side, the restaurant served good food, some of the staff were friendly, not all of them, money certainly comes before the comfort of the guests!

Room Tip: Make sure you know what you are getting for your money before booking a room, and ask if they have moved all the rotting rubbish from behind the hotel.

Stayed there this week with two pals on a bird watching trip. £37.50 for b/b was not unreasonable but you were only offered orange juice at breakfast. The bed rooms were fine and we all had good sleeps and the only issue was my bathroom i.e. vanity light did not work, bath plug without chain, leaking shower, shower fed from cold water/hot water mix, mould behind taps. Not really good enough. We dined in on the Friday and had a mixture of dishes. No problems with the food and the service was good throughout our stay. We will be returning to this area again and it is more than likely we would choose this hotel. Decent sized car par at the back illuminated and may well be covered by the CCTV so we had no issues about parking overnight

Room Tip: Room 22 had the bathroom issues
