We stayed at this wonderful guest house during mid December. Our hosts Gerardine & Eugene were extremely accommodating. The rooms are beautifully decorated and bed comfortable. The delicious breakfast set us up for the busy day ahead! An added bonus was Eugene's extensive knowledge of the magherafelt and it's surrounding area as well as the families in and around the area. Given that my husband and I were in magherafelt to trace my ancestors this was very helpful... In fact we decided to stay an extra night. I have had no hesitation in recommending laurell villa guest house to my family who plan on visiting Northern Ireland in the near future.
We we'll be back!

My Grandson and I stayed during the IFA training and friendly match, and were given every assistance we needed. Our hosts were outstanding in their service and hospitality, and the facilities were elegant, and the breakfast was very tastefully served. As is not uncommon, our conversation quickly found mutual friends and aquaintances in N. Ireland, and we had a wonderful time reminiscing. While we had very unusual weather outside with record snow and cold, inside was warm and welcoming. My wife is now convinced she wants to stay there the next time we are back in Ireland.

A poetry and art museum that also allows overnight guests. If you are doing any geneological research, this is the place. Eugene and Gerardine are fantastic as host/hostess. Help with genelogy, directions, and a great breakfast, too. We had a fantastic stay with them. A first class establishment!

Stayed here for a long weekend with family and friends. This place is excellent. It could almost be described as a heritage centre for local history and Irish Literature. It takes me almost half an hour to descend the stairs as I'm so busy looking at the many beautiful adornments on the walls and surfaces and reading the many pieces of poetry and illustrations on display. Absolutely brilliant and a unique experience. Locally, there's a wealth of bars and restaurants which offer excellent quality and entertainment. The Terrace Hotel is only a stone's throw away and does great bar food in a friendly atmosphere. We also had a meal in Gardiner's and the cuisine compares with anything you'll find in an upmarket restaurant. I could go on and on. Gerardine's home cooked breakfast is fantastic and Eugene is like a local tour guide. We'll definitely return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

From the moment we walked in, we were made feel welcome. There were many interesting things to see - artwork, framed poems, nice antique furniture, etc. Our room was very nice and was tastfully decorated. We got up rested and ready to go downstairs to a wonderful breakfast each mornng. We always had fresh fruit salad and freshly baked breads with our meal. The owners were very knowledgable of the area and helped us tremendously in locating "long-lost family". Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

It's one of those places that is such a special gem and is a real home from home. Yet again a wonderful stay and I will be back again next year. Forget the Terrace Hotel next door -this is the place!

We booked in for three nights but stayed five. Eugene and Geradine went out their way to be helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with a good ensuite. Eugene spent considerable time researching the location of our ancestors farm and gave good advice on doing more research. We wish them well in their venture and lifes journey.
