“Brilliant - as always!”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Business lunch for all staff in Gardiners. Excellent Menu with lots of choice for only £14.95. Excellent organisation by Sean (Mr Owens - Chef and Patron) via e mail which ensured that all personal requests were met. Table beautifully set and ready when our party of 18 arrived. Service was flawless, food was delicious (personal and weird individual requests were addressed!) We sent back empty plates - the food was truly excellent. Lots of Christmas party drinks later,(we recommend the Firefly Wine) we had lots of conversation around the table and did not feel pressured to leave as Chef Mr Sean Owens joined our table to chat.

A briliant gourmet experience. Unmissable, unforgettable.

Thank you to everyone at Gardiners you made our Christmas party!

“The pride of Magherafelt”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

We don't tell Chef Sean Owens often enough what a fine restaurant he runs and how much a part of the fabric Magherafelt it really is. Consistently excellent food cooked wiith passion and personality, honouring local produce and there for all of life's great celebrations. Sean and the team know their customers, loyal to existing ones and welcoming of new ones.

“Drop in standards”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

We used to eat here at least once a month and on special occasions. Had my mums 70th party here. This was our favourite restaurant, and could not fault it. Told everyone who listened how good it was, from food to service to ambience. All christmas outings were held here. But alas standards have fallen. The beef stroganoff and a bed of champ was my dish, but the past couple of times the meat was very fatty and grissely, I complained on one occasion but recieved to apology or explanation, sadly dissapointing,(take heed Sean) Basically the quality of the food has dropped drastically. I cannot stress how saddened I am about this. I must stress that service is excellent, never a fault or complaint here. One last point, the owner / chef, would come out and speak with certain regulars but never us, just a small critsism, it would have been mannerly for him to at least ask us how our meal was or at the very least acknowledge us.
We are now giving all our trade to Simplicity in Magherafelt as the food is v good and they do offers. Might give Church st restaurant a go too

“Beautiful!!!”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

We have saved this restaurant for special ocasions and thank heavens it never lets us down. It was a little quieter than usual but that just added to the romance of the restaurant.
We had mushroom to start an 2 tender juicy fillets with sides food was plentiful we had no need for the sides as it was on a bed of champ we shouldn't of went out ravenous in the first place lol. I couldn't squeeze in dessert so hada coffee an my husband had another drink.
It is a bit on the pricey side but as its guaranteed beautiful food you don't mind payin and we will keep on returning!!
