What a gem of a restaurant up a narrow back alley. We ate in here on Saturday lunchtime. It was full, but the staff very kindly opened up the additional seating area for us. The lunch menu is excellent value - £5 for one course and £7.50 for two. They also have a very reasonably priced carvery if you fancy something more substantial. From the lunch menu, we were spoilt for choice with a wide selection of vegetarian options, all of which sounded delicious. I had the vegetable coconut Korma with rice and Peter the sweet potato and peanut stew with mash, both of which were very tasty and generous portions. We thoroughly enjoyed them both and they filled us up, so no room, alas for the wonderful looking desserts we had set our sights on. A very generous pot of tea rounded off the meal most appropriately. For the two of us it came to less than thirteen pounds, which, for a hot drink and a delicious hot meal is very good value. The staff were very helpful and nice too. The packages the cafe offers of a film and food seem an excellent idea. They also have some cookery classes. We will certainly be back, when next in Holmfirth. Highly recommended. Do try it out for yourselves if you can, it is a real gem of a place.
