“Nice tea rooms; needs a tweek?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

Always a nice atmosphere here; consistently friendly welcome (although Emma often seems preoccupied), great furniture and décor, choice of rooms, including upstairs and tiny outside garden for the hot days. I'd appreciate a slightly wider variety of food (so many local producers whose tarts, pies and so on would be easy to provide), and above all enough salad garnish to accompany the dishes, not just a couple of leaves, a teaspoon of coleslaw and tiny three slices of cherry tomato; seems a small thing but when you're faced with a large dry sandwich the garnish has to be significant, otherwise you find yourself having to order a separate green salad after your meal arrives.
Could we have some more recent magazines or papers too, please?
Nit-picking? Unfortunately that's what review sites encourage; but to end on a more positive note...I shan't stop going to Emma's, and I love the changing art works on the walls.

Very clean and atmospheric. The prices are good and the home made cakes are to die for! The staff are very friendly. Been a couple of times now and will definitely go again!

“Fab afternoon tea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

We took 9 children for afternoon tea and the staff were great. Being registered childminders we are always on the look out for new places to visit and this came up trumps with the children. They loved the juice being served in individual tea pots and the ice cream was scrummy. Nice ham in the sandwiches too, not plastic ham! At £5 per child this was good value and an excellent experience for them. The atmosphere was nice and customers very chatty with us. We had a lovely time, thanks to the staff from all at Durker Dukes, Meltham.

“Friendliest coffee place in Holmfirth”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

Emma's is a great little spot to enjoy a coffee and a catch up in Holmfirth. The coffee is ground freshly to order and the staff are well trained to make a good cup. This amounts to about the best coffee one can find in the village. It's always served with a smile and some friendly chat too.

Tea drinkers should not be disappointed either with a huge selection of teapigs and loose-leaf teas available - as well as good old Yorkshire Tea.

The cafe is furnished tastefully with quirky old tables and chairs that perfectly match the lovely old building. Upstairs there are tables large enough to accommodate big parties, and a tea garden out the back for when the weather is warm enough!

The food on offer ranges from delicious home-made soups and freshly prepared sandwiches to beautifully decorated home-made cakes of all descriptions.

The menu states that - where possible - all ingredients are locally sourced. I also noticed a good few gluten-free options available so those with dietary requirements needn't struggle It's also nice to see a place where kids and dogs are also happily accommodated. All in all, there's something here for everyone.

Take all these options, together with reasonable prices, friendly banter and free Wi-Fi and it becomes all too tempting to swap the office for Emma's Tea Parlour and stay there all afternoon, pretending to do work!

When work time gets too pressing though, you can always take advantage of the same great food and drink being available to take-away.
