“Perfect”
Reviewed March 11, 2013 for a stay in April 2012

Well what can we say ... After a stressful few years we were looking for the perfect hideaway and found it in the Old School House. If you are looking for character and charm and especially a log fire you are going to the right place. The cottage had everything you could possibly ask for - for a short or long stay, well equipped and comfortable. Only 5 miles from Holmfirth (Last of the Summer Wine) and the Old Bridge Hotel is the perfect place to dine. Peter is a great host, helpful but unobtrustive. The views are stunning and the peace and quiet was just what the Doctor ordered. We are looking forward to our next stay with a new addition - our little dog who we are sure will love it as much as we do.

In fact if we won the lottery we would offer to buy it off Peter!!!!!

“Fantastic cottage and lovely location”
Reviewed March 9, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

The cottage is very comfortable and clean. It has everything you need for a break. The place is dog friendly and there is no extra cost. The owner, Peter, is very friendly and helpful but he leaves you to your own devices. The cottage is situated in a beautiful part of South Yorkshire. If you enjoy walking this is perfect for you. Our dog loved the great walks we had and meeting the sheep. There are some great pubs, serving local ales, with shops and good restaurants locally. Holmfirth is only 5 miles away which is where 'Last of the Summer Wine' was filmed. This was our second stay and we can't wait to return.

“Fantastic House, Excellent Location”

We had a great time staying at the Old School House; during the day there was plenty to do just short drives away. We went cycling on the Transpennine trail and on many walks around the area. The fire was lovely at night and there were more than enough amenities in the house to cook a nice meal with! Peter was a great host and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there! The only thing that could have improved the stay was a more local pub!

“Best holiday cottage ever”

The Old School House in Carlecotes is the best cottage we gave ever stayed in and we have been visiting it for many years. The cottage is warm, comfortable and very well equiped with wonderful far-reaching views. We always find time to walk from the cottage to the Transpennine Trail and to Pensistone and (usually) back again. Carlecotes is a small village but in the centre of many areas to visit. Peter is the perfect host and very willing to supply information of where to visit or walk in the surrounding areas. Will be visiting again very soon.
