“A lovely house decorated beautifully”
Reviewed August 3, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We loved the house! It was cozy and pretty. The beds were very comfortable so we didn't even have jet lag after the long journey! Kate was very warm-hearted and helpful. The cats were great fun too! :)

“Our little home from home in Holmfirth.”
Reviewed July 14, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Just returned from our fourth stay at this amazing apartment in the lovely area of Holmfirth. This apartment is ideal for us as we like to attend gigs at the Picturedrome in town, as well as enjoying short walks through the lovely countryside nearby. We have also grown to like the town of Holmfirth itself. Kate (and Steve of course) is the most welcoming of hosts and continuously strives to improve and upgrade the apartment on a regular basis - there is always something different in the place. The apartment itself is more than adequately kitted out, including wifi. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the log fire very welcoming in winter months. The views from all main rooms are stunning, no matter what season.
The local pub - the Farmers Arms - is very welcoming but the jury is out on the new style and quality of food since a recent change of management.
We have already booked to return in March next year, but could be back sooner depending on artists appearing at the "drome"!
Thanks again Kate, keep up the good work.

“Best cottage we've ever stayed in!”
Reviewed December 29, 2014 for a stay in January 2014

The title said it all! Simply amazing. It's been a year since we've stayed there with my husband and friends and it is still by far the best place we've visited.
Hospitality is just unforgettable as well.

“Highly recommend!”
Reviewed May 27, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

A bit late writing this, but we stayed here for 4 nights at the end of April. The welcome from Kate and her family was wonderful - as well as them all being a lovely bunch, there was fresh eggs, bread, milk and marmalade too !
The apartment is very quirky, it has everything you need for a self-catering holiday, including a coffee pod machine! A few low ceilings tho - so tall people .. duck!!
The very large bed in the master bedroom was so so comfortable, and the views from the window seat superb.
Holmfirth is a lovely little place, it was about 10 -12 mins walk into town, but a bit longer on the way back as it is all up hill. Lots of cafes/tearooms/pubs/restaurants. Some nice walks from town too - most of which could be adapted to start from the apartment.

Highly recommend Nicks Kitchen for dinner (but you have to book) and also Mezze. There was also a really nice little cocktail bar (in cellar underneath a restaurant - think it was called Alea or something like that), it was just opposite Nicks Kitchen. Also the Farmers arms , which is about 2 doors away from the apartment - fantastic pie & real chips mmm !!!!
.
All in all we had a fabulous 4 days in Holmfirth and Burnlee House.
Thanks Kate & co for your wonderful hospitality.

“Impressed!”
Reviewed April 16, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

I stayed over at this beautiful flat with my partner, baby and in laws. The flat was bigger than I anticipated and it had everything we needed - very well equipped.

The views were fantastic and the master bedroom was very big. The sitting/dining area was a relatively good size with a small kitchenette on one corner, which was perfectly adequate for a short stay.

It was a querky and well designed flat, close the holmfirth town centre, but not close enough to be bothered by the traffic, especially at peak times. It takes around 10-12 minutes to walk down to the town centre and around 15 minutes to walk back.

There are 3 sets of stairs to reach the property and some of the ceilings are low, which add character to this beautiful place. We loved it and would be happy to stay there again.

Kate, the owner was lovely and very helpful with information. She received us with some fresh eggs from her hens, locally made marmalade and bread.

All in all a lovely weekend.

“Met our expectations 110 %”
Reviewed July 14, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

I spent here 11 days with my daughter-in-law. Enjoyed the heat wave almost all the time. Lovely house, big rooms, beds were comfortable (slept like a baby). Kate was always very helpful and gave us good tips where to go etc. We drove to Halifax, Uppermill, Wakefield etc. and I was jogging steep uphill on Greenfield Road (beautiful scenery). We spent a couple of days just walking in Holmfirth, having coffee and fish and chips. Holmfirth offers basically everything you need. Thank you very much Kate and Steve. Hope to see you again, maybe you come to Finland one day!
