“Excellent lunch and panoramic views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2012

My wife and myself would highly recommend a visit to this very unusual venue for lunch or dinner.
The food was excellent, service was good and the view was to die for: Yorkshire at its most picturesque.
The restaurant is on the small side though, so I would recommend booking a table beforehand.
We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime and it was full!
That always tells a story.

“Did they want customers?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

Having checked opening hours for food service a friend and I called in for a late light lunch. The cafe/restaurant was full of customers embarking on a wine tour. We found a seat and the waitress immediately said 'I must warn you that we will be serving a lot of cream teas when the people return, but I'm not sure how many'. We asked what she was trying to tell us- were we able to have lunch? Did she want us to sit at the bar? How long were we planning to stay? Anyway we ordered open sandwiches and glasses of white wine. The wine wasn't chilled, and when we asked for some ice we were told they didn't have any. The sandwiches were unremarkable, and certainly not worth the price we paid. they came on standard sliced brown and the prawns were bland. The setting is outstanding with panoramic views, but this doesn't justify the high prices and the service could be better.

“beautiful views..”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

y husband was given a Groupon deal for a wine tasting and afternoon tea experience at the vineyard and we travelled from Bury in Lancashire to enjoy this lovely gift.
This is obviously a very popular venue for meals and drinks, with a view to die for overlooking Holmfirth and the surrounding countryside.
There was about 16 in our group and the tour began late at 3.15. Ian the owner did a decent job in explaining all about the history of the vineyard and the grape vines. We were disappointed in the wine production area as it was the wrong time of year and absolutely nothing was going on there. We saw vats etc but nothing to hold our interest. We managed to taste three sips of wine and although we enjoyed it, we were surprised that there was none offered for sale ! We got the impression that maybe there was only enough wine for the exclusive wine shops, and the restaurant !!
After a swift talk, we then went for our afternoon tea. Very organised and efficient service, BUT the food was sadly lacking and very skimpy ! We have had afternoon tea on many occasions and sometimes on deals, and this offering was pathetic to say the least. The quantity was totally insufficient. A quarter of a small scone each, quarter of a chocolate tart, three small finger sandwiches each, an extremely small flapjack, and a small pot of jam and cream. In fact there was more jam and cream than their was scone !!! This all washed down with cups of tea and a small glass of Cava. Definitely not value for money. Maybe it was because we were on a Groupon deal, but it seemed to me that everyone got the same, deal or not.
It looked a lovely place and I wish the owner well as he seems to work very hard, but people want value for money these days, and we were so disappointed, and for that reason I cant really recommend this experience.

“Great place for lunch with lovely view”

A most unexpected delight.

We ate on a Sunday lunchtime. The food was lovely and the view over the vineyard is great.

Only criticism was the slow service
