As with a few other reviewers, we arrived at the Ford Inn unplanned and unannounced - We had been travelling for a few hours and found ourselves looking for a place to eat. The Ford Inn hove into view and, at the last moment, I spotted the sign saying that food was served. So we pulled onto the car park and walked inside.
First impressions were very good indeed - we were greeted by the owner, and immediately made to feel welcome. The dining area was spacious, and staff were both courteous and friendly. We made our choices from the menu, sat back and relaxed while our food was prepared. When it was served, I was genuinely surprised by the quality and quantity. Not only was the main dish well prepared and properly cooked, but also the accompanying vegetables were *just right* - neither over-cooked nor under-provisioned.
All the time we were there, The same friendly welcome was extended to all customers. While paying for our meal (which was quite reasonably priced) I had the opportunity to chat for a moment with the owner. It was immediately obvious that he has a firm grasp on running the business and what his customers require - i.e. good quality grub with first class service, all at a competitive price point. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment.
