Enjoyed a very pleasant stay on business last week. Booked this hotel last minute but would have absolutely no hesitation in booking again. Rooms are pretty basic but attractive and spotlessly clean. The bar area and restaurant are relaxed and cosy with a roaring fire on the go. Food was of a good standard and at £11 for a steak and ALL the trimmings was excellent value for money. If you are staying within 20 miles of this place, avoid the chain hotels and treat yourself to a real Inn experience.

Room Tip: There are only three rooms I believe, but all of a good, spotless quality.

We had booked a short break in this hotel a few weeks ago. Then the rains came and many roads were closed so we rescheduled our stay.We arrived just after lunch on a crisp autumn day and were met with a blazing log fire and friendly hosts.Although the pub is comfortable and has a modern decor it's old world charm remains intact. On both evenings of our stay we ate in the pub and the food was glorious.Good homecooked fare and delicious puds! The scenery was wonderful and the trees were beginning to change to their autumn splendour which was a bonus.
Our room was clean and comfortable and had tea making facilities and a TV.This area is excellent for people who enjoy walking holidays.Sadly I have MS and have mobility problems so we stayed in the pub alot of the time, which was no hardship. I would recomend this hotel to anyone who just wants to relax ,have good food and drink and enjoyable company. It is an excellent way to recharge your batteries!

We would like to say a big thank you for making our stay we you recently (24/09/12) so enjoyable. Unfortunately the weather was not the best during our trip around Yorkshire – however the welcome at the White Horse more than made up for the weather.
We appreciated the lovely warm fire, the lovely food (Dinner and Breakfast) the nice warm room and your hospitality.
In particular Sarah we wanted to thank you for the directions you gave us to get onto the A628 and then to the M67 while avoiding going over Holmbridge in that wet and windy weather. Thanks to you we found our way safely to Manchester Airport. We greatly appreciated that assistance.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Holmfirth and with you at the White Horse - hopefully next time we visit we will be able to enjoy more of the surrounding countryside.

We have eaten a few times at The White Horse, and found the lunchtime meals fabulous, so when we decided to have a short break we knew where to go!!

We had a wonderful 3 days/2nights with David and Sarah and found them hospitable and friendly with nothing too much trouble for them.

The evening meals were very well presented, cooked perfectly and excellent quality.

All-in-all a fabulous trip. We will certainly be going there again.

Room Tip: We had a wonderful double room and although it was on the front - it was quiet and very comfortable.

Having stayed at this pub earlier this year, booked again for B & B so we could meet friends for walk next day. Having enthused about quality of food ( and excellent prices) I then noticed a review which was posted quite recently - so arrived with some trepidation ! Always a worry when re-visiting - especially as we had encouraged friends to travel to Holmfirth to meet us.We weren't disappointed - the room was just as good as last time - clean, comfortable and uncluttered. And the food was great - we had the special lunch menu - and the men enjoyed the real ale ( I think there were 4 real ales to choose from). David and Sarah were still 'hosts' and once again, we received a warm Yorkshire welcome. Will be back again later in year - now comparing diaries with friends - they want to stay over too. Pub is well located for many circular walks, so no hesitation in returning again, for a winter walk ( Pub has real fires). Relieved that our second visit wasn't disappointing. Will remember to take photos next time.

Upon entering this establishment, the server behind the bar had a 'surly, sarcastic' attitude, even before we sat down to eat. We had a meal here, prepared to give it a 'go' - despite mixed local reviews. The steaks - in fact - all the meat was as tough as old boots. The server said after we complained "Well, I wouldn't give it to my dog, but there y'go!" (Now I know why we were virtually the only ones eating in the place). As we left, we passed the cook coming in from outside with a fag in hand, who said ' No-one else has complained. I check the meals myself and they were all very good!!" She glared with a look in her eyes 'don't even go there...!!' We will never visit again.

An excellent pub well located for a relaxed lunch when enjoying a local walk around Holmfirth/Scholes/Hepworth - and there are many circular walks in the area. We had the special 2 course lunch for an amazing £5.90 plus drinks - excellent local beers.
A great welcome and friendly service. Will go again for lunch or evening meal as soon as we can!
