“Small but perfectly formed!”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Unusual and interesting layout. More a cafe than a restaurant and open mostly in the daytime, with some evening functions. Kitchen on ground floor. Quite small dining area + toilets on first. Very tasty food indeed and well presented. Not particularly expensive for Holmfirth and well worth a visit. Dining area quite hot the day we called (cooking heat rises). Young lady who served us was up and down the quite steep stairs like a yo-yo - which is probably why she was so enviably and delightfully slim, Excellent and attentive service. Not much parking in immediate vicinity so if in a car you are best to use one of the car parks (Crown Bottom Car Park, near the large Co-op, is cheap and large - cross bridge over river and walk through gardens in direction of Parish Church and cross further road at main junction to reach the premises). Not disabled friendly in view of stairs to main facilities.

“One of the better cafe's in Holmfirth”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We called here for the first time the other day and it was very good. Tucked out the way next to the internationally renowned "Nook" this is a fine little cafe, catering for the "chef-ier" end of the market (for Holmfirth). BLT's with Avocado, toasties on "interesting" bread. Very nice. Worth a visit. We'll be going again in the near future. It did strike me as a little odd that the staff were up and down stairs so much though. A little planning would save the poor kids legs.

This is the fourth or fifth time I have eaten at Nicks- it is like a fine wine and seems to get better over time.

Truly love Nick and his amazing kitchen.

“A hidden gem”
Reviewed September 21, 2012 via mobile

Called in for lunch yesterday and I was really impressed. Although very small, the restaurant was tasteful. From what I can tell it seems to be a one man band with Nick acting as chef, maitre d and waiter. I had the salad of black pudding, bacon and mushroom. Really tasty and great value at about a fiver. The other dish we had was the chicken and ham pie. Again, it tasted fantastic and presentation was superb. Really glad we called in, otherwise we were thinking of going to the butchers arms to waste lots of money on pretty average food.

“Why look anywhere else?”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

We visited Nicks kItchen for lunch on Thursday the 6th,and my wife and I had chicken and ham pie, this was first class, we cannot comment further, except the pastry was the best we have ever tasted, and everything was reasonably priced,
It is a small restaurant so Nick advices checking availability for evening bookings.
