Description: Bel & The Dragon Godalming is nestled in Surrey’s picturesque market town of Godalming and is just a short stroll from the river Wey. Formerly a congregational church built in the 1800s, the building’s striking architecture has been beautifully & sensitively restored to reflect its grand nature. The restaurant with its spectacular interior offers a range of flexible spaces for both eating and drinking. Our terrace is the ideal place to relax on warmer days.

I'd looked at the menu before going with a group of friends for an evening meal out, so I knew what sort of pricing it was, but actually felt ripped off by the end of the meal. £3 for 1 small portion of extra veg on top of already expensive mains...£6 for desert is well over the top. Unfortunately the meal was average and the service wasn't that good either and and all in all, very poor value for money and won't be visiting again.

Lived in the area for 8 years so know this before the change.
It's definitely better since changing and food+ service is great but the actual ordering to arrival of food can be slow. We've Benin for lunch with abut 2 other tables and it can still take 20-30mins for arrival. Not sure if this is "drinks top up" protocol but can be a pain.....went for an evening as 6 and waited nearly 40mins for mains,
Food however is great when it arrives.
Definitely one we consider when got out in Godalming

Tantalizing menu, great ingredients, attentive service. Really nice people in a stunning venue. Lunch seems like a good option right now.

Met our friends for dinner and although they said they were very busy and we had to meet earlier than we really wanted the restaurant was never completely full. The whitebait and squid starters were excellent and the main courses were served very promptly. The beef and lamb were beautifully cooked and prepared, disappointing that tou had rno The Pinot was overpriced at over £23 per bottle. We were also drinking red wine which was served in a huge Carafe and the idea was you just paid for what you drank !!! Well of course we drank it all. You also have to pay for vegetables which is a shame as the average price for a main course was 18.oo to 22,00" the pudding looked good, but was infact a little disappointing. I had the eaton mess and was again disappointed it was very sweet and the meringue was not chewy but to be fair to the restaurant they took it off the bill. Service was friendly but they need more staff in the cocktail bar as we had to wait to long,. I would go back again and hopefully score higher next time.

From the beautifull building outside I expected a good looking resturant inside. It was better than good it looked excellent. From first glances at the menu I was expecting good food, what we got was one of the best dishes I have eaten in a long time. The service was spot on, helpfull and recommending different drinks and dishes was a nice touch. Upon receiving the food the chef gave us 5 minuites of his time to explain we're the meat we were about to eat came from and offered us to come into the kitchen after dinner to view how they prepared it all.
The pudding was also breath taking, worth every penny.
Would recommend to anyone!

P.s loved the under table heaters aswell! Still can't figure out how and were the heat came from haha.
