“A National Trust property”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Winkworth is especially good at Autumn colour time although it's beautiful at all times of the year. Woodland or lakeside walks. Can get very muddy so wellies or stout boots needed in winter. Small cafe only which seems to struggle with weekend numbers.

“Autumn splendour”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

What a well kept secret Winkworth is! I now can't get enough of it - stunning scenery, up hill and down dale, a beautiful lake, plenty of birdlife and wildlife. A perfect day out - and don't forget to take a picnic and sit looking out over the hills. Wonderful!

“Beiutiful autumn leaves”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

Colours of some of the trees were outstanding, but they caused a massive tailback on the road from Godalming as they failed conspicuously to manage the large number of visitors who wanted to come on a prime autumn weekend

“Simply perfect NT Sunday afternoon walk venue”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

It's Sunday afternoon and lunch or brunch is still settling in the stomach.

Why not get off that sofa, decline the visual extravaganza of Sunday afternoon sport on the box and win some brownie points by taking the missus and sprogs out for some fresh air in the woods!

Winkworth is a great venue for this with well marked and varied trails, an amazing range or trees and other flora and particularly in the Autumn, an beautiful pantheon of colours. Yes it is hilly, but this is the Surrey Hills area of natural beauty!!

Don't get out the car if you don't like a hill or two, the light squelch of mud under boot or the potential that you might have to don a warm coat, gloves and a scarf to get the most from this attraction. But you will be missing the point and a great local experience.

“World Class”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

To think of the vision that brought this place into existence gives you new faith in humanity.

The social spirit that enables members of the public to see wonders like this is to be commended. It is an uplifting experience to walk in this beautiful place. The coffee shop is cosy and serves good quality food.

It seems you can even fish in the lake.

All ages can find something to enjoy here.
