Although I agree with some peoples reviews regarding the randomness of King Kong, the dinosaurs and the penny arcade, there is only so much you can do with a cave. The dinosaurs are well displayed, the fairy garden and King Kong are loved by the children and I think with a small budget they have added as many attractions as possible. The Circus performed by local children is fantastic. So yes it's not cheap but a recap on attractions:

Cave tour with guide & lights (and cheese making)

Penny arcade

magic mirrors (pretty lame)

miniature village

Paper mill (could be better explained)

Dinosaur exhibition (need to be bigger with more facts, though it is my daughters favourite part)

Children's circus (fantastic)

Teddy bear shop

restaurant (rather pricey!)

It is a different day out, you have Cheddar gorge just up the road & the parking has been improved

Got there first thing so was not too busy. Had a free child admission off the net so saved on addmission fees. Children really enjoyed it. Left then about lunch time and called in to The Rodney Stoke Inn for a fab meal.

First visit ever to Wookey Hole and very impressed with the caves (chambers). Guide informative and willing and able to answer questions, although the tour felt a little hurried.

The rest of the "complex" is a jumble of model dinosaurs, circus mirrors, Edwardian penny arcade machines and children's play area etc. The 10 minute film about the paper mill is quite interesting but there is not much to see of the mill.

Not a cheap day (or half day) out - entrance alone is usually £45 for a family of four, but children bound to enjoy most of the attractions. Not a particularly large site so expect crowds in peak holiday times.

Overall, the caves are definately worth seeing but personally I can give the rest a miss anytime.

This scored 3 rather than four because it is relatively small in terms of the time it fills and while I enjoy visiting Wookey Hole when I am in the area it is dispensible enough that its not on my 'must do' list.

Wookey consists of three main sections
1) The caves themselves, a tour of which lasts 30-40minutes
2) The outside garden with dinosaur valley - a dinosaur themed play area - with some visible archeological sites from early human prehistory.
3) THe Victorian Mill, incorporating the cave museum, a series of Victoriana and the shop.

You will often find Wookey compared to the nearby Cheddar Gorge. Wookey wins and loses some in comparison, so Ill drop my opinion in here. Cave-wise Wookey is outclassed geologically by the bigger Cheddar, although Wookey has the witch legend which Cheddar does not. However the smaller caves, the stories about the caves, the in-person guide and the Mill and garden makes Wookey much better for families with kids.

I can generally spend 2 hours or so at Wookey Hole and it usually ends the day after we visit Cheddar from West Somerset.
It is fun, it is (for me) worth the money, but I don't consider it a must do (Married no kids) - however that may be very different for those with children.

Lots of people talk about Wookey hole but i wonder if they have ever been there. It cost us just under £25 for 2 adults. We queued for about 40mins to get in the cave and were hurried through in 20mins max. The caves are interesting if you can get to see them without the mass crowds. Then we left the caves to enter a very surreal dinnosaur area, which geologically has nothing to do with the caves!! And what is king kong all about? There are massive fibre glass statues of random dinnosaurs and king kong - it makes no sense. finally we left through a room of really old slot machines - not sure again what the link to the caves is?? complete waste of money. do not visit - go to Longleat!!!
