“True Value for Money”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

This hotel was just perfect for our two night stay, could not be faulted, friendly staff, good access to Wookey Hole Caves and Attractions, excellent value for money, clean facilities. We will be re-booking later in the year - what more can I say. Thank you for making our short stay an enjoyable one.

This hotel is offers great value for money . It has the feel of a chain hotel aimed at the family market. Clean, Very quiet, Nice all round stay i would defiantly use this hotel as a cheap base if i was staying in area.

We stayed in a family room which was one of the only rooms left. The room was large and had French doors and a juliet balcony which was lovely in the warm weather. Staff were great and helpful and the breakfast was very nice. We'd paid to include breakfast and this set us up for the day.
We ate in the restaurant on one evening and whilst busy, the food was good quality and very tasty.
This isn't a boutique hotel, it's a good family hotel, well maintained and great location.
Enjoyable stay

We booked an over night stay with our 8yr old and 18month old to take part in the first ever pirate themed night at the Wookey Hole Hotel.

The first thing that gets you is how close the hotel is the caves and associated attractions....its just over the road! For us with a pram that was fab, no walking miles to get to anything (but u do walk miles once you have been around everything!)

The cost was £160 that was for the pirate themed evening with captain Jack and his crew, 3 course meal, breakfast with a pirate, entry to Wooky hole, coins for the oldie arcade and a full round of Pirate golf, if we booked all these individually it would have cost way more than the £160 which was a bargain.

The trip around the caves was wonderful with amazing views, only down side is you have to leave the pram at the start of the tour and then send hubby all the way back to get it (he he) It would be better if they had a pram park at the start of the paper mill at the bottom of the hill. We managed the tour with our boy taking it in turns ducking and diving but it was no hardship, people with mobility issues would do well to contact the visitor centre (disguised as an ice cream shop) for further information.

The food in the evening was just what the doctor ordered a hog roast, and the meat was out of this world yum! Only down side the service was a little staggered and uneven, but the food was hot on arrival!

The hotel room was basic but very clean similar to a Welcome inn, double bed and a sofa bed with a bath/shower.

Poor staff were a little frazzled by the morning as some silly person had fiddled with the power box and tripped the fire alarms at 1am, out of their control. They were very apologetic in the morning :)

All in all a very surprising and enjoyable experience, if you are thinking of going to the next pirate event in September...dont forget your costumes Arrrggg!

Room Tip: let them know the age of your children and ask for a ground floor room!

We stayed here to celebrate my father in laws 70th birthday and made the mistake of the first evening of eating in their restaurant, we booked for 8 o'clock and finally got our food at twenty to 10! Not good! It was nice when it arrived but too tired to eat. One of the waiters apologised profusely after but too little too late!
Also most of the rooms have no safety mechanism on them and open wide enough for a child to get through! And this is a family friendly hotel? My children were old enough to understand but it would only take a few seconds for a child to put themselves in danger!

Having said that, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.

We only stayed here for one night, with our 4 year old boy, so we could visit Wookey Caves. The room was basic but very clean and equipped with hairdryer kettle and flat screen tv. Our room (number 6) was on the ground floor. We had one double and a pull out sofa bed.
Dinner was served in a lovely bar/resteraunt area. Fairly reasonably priced and tasty enough. The bar is well stocked too!!
The caves are a short walk over the road and up a hill- inside the caves its a bit chilly (11 degrees all yr round) so it was nice to be out of the heatwave we had at the time, Plenty to do and explore in the caves and the guide is very funny!-Not good if your a bit unsteady on your feet or have a pushchair and wear sensible shoes as its wet and can get a bit muddy!! And pick up a flyer from the hotel to get 50% off the entry prices!!
All in all a great little adventure for all 3 of us and perfect weather to enjoy it in!!!

I had a one night stay at the wookey hole hotel with my husband. Plenty of free parking was available which is always a good start. Reception staff were all helpfully and friendly and the room spacious and clean. Really nice touches like free wifi throughout the hotel and even 2 computers to use in reception and free loan of DVD 's. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was lovely and cool. Breakfast cooked freshly to order so a little bit of a wait but so much nicer than a buffet. All in all for a reasonably priced hotel excellent value.

Room Tip: Our room was upstairs at the back and lovely and cool and quiet.
