“A Motorway Hotel not on a Motorway.”

Wookey Hole Hotel is well placed for visiting the Somerset attractions. It is a standard travellers Hotel with large well appointed rooms. It is characterless except for the 'Witch' that greets you as you enter reception.

The bar is fine, the food looked good and the staff were pleasant enough. The Room Only price was acceptable for the location. It is basically a Motel set in the beautiful valley that claims the Wookey Hole tourist attraction.

I stayed with three other aging cyclists mainly because it was large enough to house the four of us in separate rooms. Unfortunately there are no facilities for cyclists and from the surprise shown by the, very nice, receptionist little demand. We left our cycles round the back by the staff smoking hut. Perhaps is they were more cycle aware they would benefit.

We decide to take our little boy to the cave for a day out which was great best cave ever.
As for the hotel very clean because new 2 year. The room was a good size and suitable.
As for the food bistro what a load of rubbish just poor to say the least. Wish I went across the road great pub.
The breakfast was extra at £8
Rip off
Apart from the food all is good and worth a visit
Great cheese from the caves

We only stayed one night on our way to Washford and this hotel was a great find.

We arrived at around 1.30am which was no problem as they have a 24 hour reception. The room was really clean a tidy and had everything we needed for out short stay. Breakfast the next day was a bit sparse (we have continental) but adequate.

We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed last year for a treat for our girls. It started good, nice room and good food, then bang!!! We had a room above reception and all you would hear is bang, bang as the door opened and closed all night. There was a wedding happening the following day so some of the guest were staying . Towards midnight there was a huge argument happening in the car park just below are room. We shouted and they went in. It then carried on under our room. With two young children with us we did our best to try and stop them hearing he colourful language that was coming from below. In the end my husband went down to he room. The night man called the manager ho seemed to be a little nervous of how events were panning out. He did that if they carried on he would ask them to leave, which he didn't! The following morning we went to complain again with very little success BUT we did get a complementary upgrade breakfast from cold to hot saving us about a £5.00. Big deal considering the price of the room, lack of sleep and not to mention the new 4 letter word that our 3 & 8 year olds now know.

We then went round the attraction quickly as we couldn't wait o leave. A complete let down in all areas.

Staff were almost scared of help.
Tacky caves with too much witch rubbish.
Expensive food in the little cafe and full of grease.

We did get some of our money back, but not with out a few phone calls.

Room Tip: Ask for one way away from the reception doors.

We booked to stay here for one night so we could visit Wookey and Cheddar Gorge and a fabulous location we choose. On arrival we was greeted with a smile from the girl on reception who checked us in, also answered our questions regarding eating and visiting the attraction.

The room we had was a family room very spacious and clean with plenty of storage for your clothes etc.... Towels are provided as is tea and coffee facilities and a hair dryer. We asked for some extra pillows at reception and the girl brought them to us within a few minutes. The bathroom has a bath and shower with heated towel rail and was very clean.

We choose to eat in the Bistro at the hotel and wasn't disappoint the food was lovely, good quality, hot, and the portion sizes were big very enjoyable. We had the Chicken Tempura and Prawn Cocktail for starters then the Hunters Chicken for our main with side order of garlic bread. Great value for money very happy.

All the staff we meet were friendly, polite and very helpful.

The car park is free at the hotel, there is free WI-FI great speed. All in all a great stay for £50

It is an excellent budget hotel in a great location for visiting all the surrounding attractions only 2 miles from the centre of Wells.

The staff were not welcoming or friendly and refused to warm up some milk for my 1yr old. This is supposed to be a family friendly hotel but they did not accomodate even the bnasic needs. There was no bottled water in the rooms, not were there any complimentary toiletries in the bathroom apart from a used 2 in 1 dove shower creme and two new plastic cups
