“Sunday Carvery”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2014

Started with being offered a few tastes of some local ales by very friendly lady. Then upstairs to the sunday carvery and the 'restaurant' area. Were given a lovely table for two in the window overlooking the dales. Carvery excellent with good choice of vegetables at a very acceptable price.

“Bar meal service at restaurant prices”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

Booked a table for two thinking we were dining in a restaurant. Given a table in a noisy bar with disco type background music. Ordered two steak meals at £12.45? each Steaks were good but the rest left a lot to be desired. Anorexic onion rings, diabolical chips, black grilled tomato all presented like a transport cafe grill. Disappointing and would not go back.

“Very run of the mill...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2014

Been here twice now within the last month. The location is nice enough but the food is really quite basic. The older lady serving our drinks continuously licked spilt drinks off her fingers inbetween pulling pints etc and although she was obviously popular with the locals it really made me cringe and I was quite relived whe I realised she want making our lunch!
There are better places to eat, less than average table service, waited forever to be served and really average food.

“Below average pub food, nice staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2014 via mobile

Came here for a meal for 4 lateish on a Thursday night but it may have appeared the kitchen staff were eager to go home early! 3 meals came with no real issues but one of the meals (salmon) was presumably a birds eye boil in the bag that hadn't been cooked for long enough as it was completely raw in the middle, which was naturally sent back. The front of house staff were apologetic and offered coffee as a way of apology which was nice of them. Recommendation....... completely overhaul the menu as it was tired and even by pub standards uninspiring and limited. Steak and ale pie wasn't unlike a steak stew with cardboard encasing it. Chips were a saving grace however. Shame the kitchen entirely let down what would have been an enjoyable meal.
