Description: The Black Swan Tearoom, located in the picturesque market town of Helmsley in the North York Moors, is both charming and traditional, and offers a fabulous quintessentially English Afternoon Tea experience which even the connoisseurs of Afternoon Tea wouldn't be able to fault. In addition to the traditional Afternoon Tea which changes seasonally making best use of the fresh, local produce available, a wide selection of brasserie style dishes are also served making the Tearoom the ideal place to meet up for lunch or simply just a cup of tea and a chat.

We called in for a cup of tea and lunch. The Black Swan burger was huge and enjoyed by my partner with home cooked chips and coleslaw while I drank a pot of Black Swan tea, also recommended, very refreshing. Service was quick and very friendly, there was a roaring fire and lots of customers also enjoying their lunch. First visit to the tea room and we will return soon

We stopped off while running around visiting friends and getting ready to attend a wedding - we were really just looking for somewhere still serving food at 3pm! We ate in the tea rooms, which had a lovely friendly atmosphere - we ended up chatting to a couple at another table, which seemed to be a fairly normal occurrence! The food itself was excellent, the service quick and friendly, and we were a bit disappointed we didn't go for the afternoon tea as it looked amazing... Would definitely recommend and return if we're in the area again.

We booked for the mid season game dinner taking my father in law and my husband's brother and wife. After a somewhat chaotic start with nowhere to sit in the main bar we were shown into another lounge at the back only to be asked to leave 10 minutes later as it had been booked for a private reception. When we got into the restaurant none of the staff seemed to know which was table 1 but eventually we were left on the first one as you went in. After this start I was somewhat dubious about what was to come. As it turned out I need not have worried as the quality of the food and accompanying matched wines was superb and the service was effiient and freindly once they had hit their stride. The selection of game was fantastic and each course was different we all throughly enjoyed it and I declared it the best meal i have had all year. I would not hesitate to come again and hope they run something similar next year. The value of the meal was also really good
