Our little girl had fallen and cut her knees quite severely, and the staff helped us provide first aid. If that wasn't enough, they offered to let us use their wheelchair because she was unable to put any weight on her legs without crying at the time. We went around the castle much easier than we would have carrying her all the way around, and just carried her when there was no access to the inside due to steps. To top it all off, we thouroughly enjoyed the castle grounds itself, which would have been a completely different story if they hadn't been so helpful and thoughtful.

Wonderfully looked after, beautiful grounds. We took a picnic & had a lovely afternoon & also gained a little more information on our England's history. Thanks to the staff.

Helmsley castle is in a lovely setting , we had a lovely sunny day to walk around and there is lots more than you think on the inside, relics that have been found during digs in and around the castle and grounds, an interesting day out.

I visited Helmsley Castle recently then went back there to watch an outdoors performance of A Midsummer's Night Dream. It couldn't have been held in a more beautiful location than this castle. The staff here are very friendly and helpful and the shop is well stocked. The castle grounds and ruins themselves are wonderful to explore with a Tudor house that is well kept and has some very interesting displays. Would love to visit again.

We were the first visitors of the day, so we had the castle all to ourselves. It was so peaceful, the only thing we could hear was the baaing of the sheep in Duncombe Park.
