Owner description: The National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park is the largest collection of these amazing birds in the north of England. You will find over 100 owls, eagles, vultures, falcons, hawks kites and more in a spacious 10 acre setting. We are a leader in the captive breeding, welfare and conservation of these awesome birds. Please don't compare us to other bird of prey centres, we are in a different league! We have a team of trained bird who fly three times a day (11.30, 14.00 & 16.15 ) Different birds are flown at each demo. We even have an indoor area if the weather isn't being kind. In recognition of the quality of the National Centre for Birds of Prey - we won our category in the White Rose Awards, the UK's largest regional tourism awards.

I travelled here with my wife and 2 boys aged 10 and 12 and i have to say it is one of the best places we have been to in a long while. The staff are wonderful and extremely knowledgable, the flying displays are without question the best i have ever seen and the whole place is wonderfully kept and clean with nice large enclosures for the huge collection of birds. My youngest boy even said it was the best thing we did all half term even beating Godzilla in 3D at the cinema and thats saying something. We WILL BE BACK without question. Very well done to all and thank you for a lovely day.

“An excellent experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2014

I too visited for a photography course and the day was wonderful. Excellent training from Linda Wright, pitched perfectly to go from complete novice at photographing birds to coming away with some great pictures. The setting is lovely and the staff well informed and very helpful. There was a wide variety of birds in good condition and that were presented well both for portraits and for flying shots. The cafe is good when open but always have a backup plan for when it is not open. Helmsley is very close and the sandwiches at Hunter's are well renowned. You will not go hungry for sure. This was much more than the experience I had anticipated and would recommend it to all our cottage guests. Any photographer wishing to learn about bird photography would no t be disappointed here.

“Amazing experience”

As a lover of all things wildlife visiting the ICBP centre at Helmsley was an amazing experience, the collection of birds is incredible, with all of the birds well cared for and in great facilities, then the flying display was great with knowledgable and passionate staff talking visitors through each birds work.

“Nothing negative about this photographic experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

The ICBP hosted a day long photography course under the guidance of international photographer, Linda Wright. The weather was excellent and the tuition just as good. Annabelle and Charlie were brilliant throughout in flying numerous birds, describing them in detail and positioning them so we could capture excellent shots. This was a first rate experience and one I would recommend for anyone interested in wildlife photography.

Lovely weather, lots of birds to see. The fkying show was Informative and funny, some of the birds are real characters and the falconers knew their stuff. Highly recommend for adults and kids.
