Walking from Aysgarth Falls up to Castle Bolton, on the return journey we happened upon this delightful pub at just the right time for lunch. Allowing the dog in was great, especially as thee was a roaring fire.
Friendly service, good beer (wish I could have stayed for more) and a reasonable lunch. This was the perfect stop off point on our circular walk.

My daughter and son-in-law bought us a two night coupon deal for The Wheatsheaf as a Christmas gift. I am ashamed to say that with around 20 years of visiting/staying experiences in and around Hawes, we had never discovered this location and the wonderful Wheatsheaf. We will rectify this by making many more visits. We were warned in advance that the only room available was a very small double. It was very small, but had everything needed. The welcome was warm, the staff were great and nothing was too much trouble for owners/staff. We dined on our first night and the food was typically good, pub food. Plenty of it and nicely cooked - with a lovely curry to make my husband's night! The owners couldn't guarantee the weather, but on a very wet and windy afternoon, ensured that the comfortable guests' sitting room had a blazing fire in the log burner. So we curled up in armchairs with books (provided) and had a lovely relaxing afternoon. The coffee and brandy went down very well!!! We will most definitely return and can highly recommend The Wheatsheaf. We send our sincere thanks to the owners.

Room Tip: We were in Room 3 which is a very small double - but you will be told about this on booking - and it...

Recently stayed for two nights with husband and other family members. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. The whole stay was a pleasure and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The room (room 12) as large and spacious and very clean. The tea tray was well stocked (it is Yorkshire afterall) and toiletries in the bathroom a nice touch. Room lovely and warm and bed comfortable.

Had breakfast both days which was lovely - good quality meat and plenty of choice.

Had a meal on the first night and enjoyed it that much we ate there again the second night. Plenty of choice and just what you would expect from an Inn of this kind. Reasonably priced too. The Black Sheep was one of the cleanest pints I have had for a while.

Walking distance from Aysgarth Falls and Caslte Bolton fo those who enjoy a gentle walk over the Dales.

All in all a great stay and we will have fond memories of this place. Thanks for a great stay.

Just stayed for 2 nights at the Wheatsheaf on a coupon deal and were delighted. Set in a beautiful location, quiet and peaceful, but central for touring the Dales. Welcome email from owner before we went was an unexpected nice touch, and helpful replies to queries about walks in the area. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable with controllable heating. Shower room very clean and all that we could want. Evening meal in the bar, with huge log fire, was excellent and very welcome after a day's walking. Lovely guest lounge for relaxing and chatting . Breakfast was really good, own choice cooked to order. The Wheatsheaf was exactly what a cosy country pub should be and we loved it. Definitely be going back and would recommend it .

Room Tip: Didn't see any other rooms only ours, number 4, but suited us very well. Very quiet. No problems...

Just been at The Wheatsheaf for a weekend to chill out. Lovely warm welcome from staff on arrival, we had been allocated a lovely large room with a bath. There is a good menu available with food presented by lovely staff, also the beers are really well kept, try the 'Leg Over' a local brewed ale. Good sleep quality, and a great breakfast freshly cooked the next morning, it really sets you up for whatever you want to do. A really welcoming pub really helpful staff, it is a dog friendly pub also. Have been here before and certainly will be returning soon.

I do not agree with the review by mamag55. My wife and I stayed at the Wheatsheaf for 6 days last week and we had the same room. However my wife and are very particular where we stay and this was our 3rd visit to the Wheatsheaf and we found the room very comfortable even though the decor might need tidying up a bit but we didn't have any complaints whatsoever.
We shall definately be returning again as we found it great value for money. Mine host and staff were brilliant as always friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Local people and customers in the bar were friendly and the dining room is much better than it was since it has been redesigned.

Room Tip: A room at the front has good views towards Penhill.
