Stayed here on 10th May 2013. Arrived in the evening, really warm welcome.
Room was really nice, tidy and clean. Had an evening meal which was really excellent, the service was great, Staff were very smart and friendly.
Had a few beers in the bar area, lovely open fire and biggest, coolest cat we've ever seen.
The breakfast was really nice. Couldn't fault anything with our stay.
Really lovely place and would stay there again..

Returned here for a second visit having stayed here in Sept 2009. Although the decor is a little tired the food and service were good. We had dinner here with friends sitting in the bar area. Portions were good and all home cooked mains, with naughty but nice deserts. Would eat here again if were are in the area. A good place if you want to walk to the Ayrsgarth falls.

My partner, myself and my sister and her husband stayed in rooms at The Wheatsheaf on Saturday 13 April, we had not visited before but my sister had discovered the hotel on the Internet and thought it looked ideal.
We had a wonderful evening and the rooms we were in were absolutely perfect for us, we were in the old part of the hotel as we had a dog with us, maybe we were extremely lucky but the rooms were not too small at all. We totally enjoyed our break, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food we had in the evening and the breakfast was delicious.
We certainly plan to return.

Had a great family meal with the kids (5 and 9) in the Wheatsheaf.

It was busy from 6pm (evening opening time) with a number of families having meals. The staff were really friendly and the service and food was great.

There were candles on all the tables which was a nice touch.

The kids even enjoyed playing Dominos from behind the bar.

We stayed at the Wheatsheaf on a Saturday night during March. The room was a good size with everything you need including a good sized bathroom. The meals are great value for money and delicious! My partner and I both had a main course and a dessert and the service was fantastic and very fast. We ate in the bar area which was a great atmosphere. The breakfast the next morning was also delicious with a full cooked breakfast, toast, tea or coffee, fruit juices and variety of other things such as cereals. Once again the service was great. We were very happy with our stay here and would definitely stay again in the future as it is a fantastic location to explore the Dales with Hawes only a short drive away.

We had a two night break at the wheat sheaf over February half term and it was ok, but not particularly special. The room was disappointing with a tiny shower room, completely lacking in charm or character, despite the pub itself having plenty of charm. It was freezing cold when we arrived, the bar wasn't open so we sat in the residents lounge. There's a lovely open fire in there except it was broken so we had to make do with an electric heater, that was very disappointing. It would have been lovely to sit in front of the fire reading or just relaxing, the owners should make this a priority and get it fixed. On a positive note, when the bar opened in the evening there was a fabulous open fire in there and the food was pretty good.

Stayed at this Inn Saturday 9th March 2013. We booked two rooms for myself and wife and for my step son and his girlfriend for his birthday. My wife contacted the hotel in advance about the booking and on arrival they had upgraded my step sons room for no extra (birthday treat), which was a lovely gesture. The rooms themselves were very comfortable, well decorated and looked recently updated. We had our evening meal at the Inn and the food was good and reasonably priced. The staff themselves are very friendly, approachable and the property has a nice atmosphere. It appears a very popular rest for walkers and given the icy weather that weekend, the fire in the bar was a welcome sight. The area is a good location for walks and sights e.g. the Aysgarth falls and castle Bolton are with easy reach. I would recommend this inn and would gladly return again.
