We returned from our holiday in Carperby, Yorkshire yesterday. We had a lovely week, staying at The Wheatsheaf apartment. The accommodation was excellent, very clean and modern, with a nice enclosed garden for our dog. Very close to all the places we enjoy visiting, which was an added bonus.
Wheatside apartment is attached to the Wheatsheaf pub. It can't be accessed through the pub, but has its own gate and entrance in the car park behind.
The apartment consisted of an L shaped kitchen/diner/lounge, a reasonably sized bathroom and a small bedroom. The kitchen had a full size cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine - (no dishwasher though). The bathroom had a bath with shower over and complimentary toiletries. There was no hanging space in the bedroom, which only just has enough room to walk round the bed. But there was a large wardrobe in the lounge area for hanging clothes.
The bed was made up for our arrival and towels and electric were both included, as was wifi.
The small courtyard garden had some decking and a grassed area, which would be good for people with dogs.
It was very handy, if you didn't want to cook, just to "pop" to the pub, where the food was very good. And if you didn't want to do either of those you could get a take- away from the pub at around £6-£7.
This is a very dog friendly place, which became apparent to us as soon as we entered the apartment. (The smell and hairs from dogs can never be completely eliminated). And unfortunately our booking agent wrongly sold it to us as "pet free" (which was not Wheatsides fault).
Despite this the apartment served us well and we did have a very enjoyable and reasonably priced week there. Bolton Castle and Aysgarth Falls are very close by and there are some wonderful places to discover in the area, with fantastic scenery.
